Just about to start this on CR, so I figured I'd make the thread since it hasn't been made yet.

This wasn't as bad as most eps from season one (it's like Kimi to Boku that way), but it's still a far cry from being a thoroughly enjoyable show.

Episode 1:

I enjoyed it more then most episodes from the first season. Probably because medaka wasn't her rather overbearing genki self in this? I hope to see why medaka-box is a franchise this season; because I really didn't get much out of the first season.

Episode 1:

I really disliked the first season of this show for a lot of reasons. However, I think the biggest one was the whiplash genre shift that happened at the end of the first season. Up to that point the show had been slow and pretty piss poor but when it suddenly turned into a shounen battle anime it was laughably bad even if it was trying to be a weak parody of that genre.

It looks like the second episode is going to stick with poking fun at the shounen battle thing which might indeed make it more bearable. This first episode wasn't quite as bad as last seasons offerings so maybe this time around the show will be bearable.

Although as an man that prefers butts to boobs at least this episodes focus on Nabashima's ass was more interesting than Medaka's over jiggly boobs. But really, I'm not a fan of ecchi during fight scenes even if this is supposed to be an over the top parody.

I actually rather enjoyed episode one. That one guy kinda reminds me of Gilgamesh from Fate/Stay Night, what with his "holier-than-thou" attitude.

I feel sorry for the poor bastards who dropped the first season and refuse to watch this one.
The first season was some kind of warm-up. The second season is when the real story starts.
Now it's going to be one insane battle after another. This show is supposed to be a shounen with insanely crazy battles all the time. Now we r gonna get to see all the action that was hardly there in the first season.

Episode 2:

You know I've been thinking about this show and I think part of the problem is it's taking pot shots at one of the easiest targets out there. Shounen battle anime are pretty inherently silly already and most of the ones worth watching at least acknowledge that with it's own sense of humor, even Bleach had it's own fleeting sense of humor. This tries to go even more over the top to poke fun at those shows, but it just doesn't connect with me.

After you dispense with this parody aspect what's left? One dimensional characters that do nothing to go beyond their archetypes, a Mary Sue lead and a plot that follows the shounen formula while adding a paltry bit of satire. The dialogue is never as clever as it should be, the characters don't do much to endear themselves to the audience and being an ass man I'm not moved by the boobs.

This episode we get the pervert training character and he's exactly what he appears to be. Other than an incest angle it's nothing new. The imperious asshole is a distillation of every imperious asshole character ever and it's just kind of boring to watch.

I don't hate the show. It's slightly more watchable than it was before, but not caring about the characters, finding the dialogue subpar, not seeing much working in the parody aspect, there isn't much to enjoy either.

Episode 2

I'm having a Medaka overdose, I think. She had too much screentime this episode... in my modest opinion. I fear the second episode if they give it the same angle.

That aside, I'm pretty unmoved by the series overall, it's not horrible but it isn't exactly good either. I simply do not like the main characters and the antagonists ''while'' shallow are all more interesting than the main characters. Even the support cast seems more interesting to me.

I generally don't like shounen battle type anime shows, but this is turning out to be rather fun.

The Medaka/Shigusa fight this episode was actually pretty awesome.
Medaka being the victor isn't surprising since she's the protag, but still, how it was done was fun to watch.
Especially against Shigusa's abilities.
