I didn't see a thread for this, so I made one... hopefully I did it alright...

I just watched Episode 1, and it was pretty funny. I was expecting it to be a little darker of a series than it has been so far, considering it's essentially "Shinryaku! Ika Musume" + Lovecraft; but it looks like they went the gag-harem route instead, turning it into a "Rosario+Vampire"-like series. Still enjoyable enough to keep watching though.

I heard there was series of Flash shorts about this. Do you have to watch those too, to know what's happening here?

Nope.

Episode 1

The first episode was pretty much hyperactive fun with the girl making her intention VERY clear to the guy and the guy is just put off by her straight forward dominant approach. The opening pretty much spoils what is probably going to happen. We already see the next villain... and that villain is in the opening too.

So much pandering to the otaku base, so little originality or substance...

ep 1
The only thing that puzzles me is that the god of the Cthulu mythos being aliens is a surprise.
I'm pretty sure the lovecraft novels heavily imply that cthulu and his kin are aliens.
Super aliens, sure, but aliens nonetheless.
About 8 minutes and fifty seconds in, it pictures this big stack of various manga.
I recognize only one of the covers.
And I guess I'm being a sour nitpicker, but why would intergalactic slave traders try to take slaves from first world countries instead of third world? I mean, that's what our slave traders do today.
:megusta:
And I guess the whole him stabbing her is kind of an awkward running gag...
All in all this was amusing though. I'll probably stick with it.

I don't mind.
It's way worse when a show just does it half-assed, not being sure what it wants to do.
Also, this is a parody anime.

I concede. I was quite confused because of the 'nitpicking' ( for lack of a better word ) and not sure if simply stating that it was a parody anime would be a fulfilling answer.

I'm sure the stabbing of the female main character is a parody of how Shana clones always beat the male lead.

Dude, I'm totally watching this. An insane, alien Otaku, who likes to brutally murder monsters and whatnot, and speaks Gratuitous English? I'm sold.

Note ive been waiting a long time for this series to come out and to finally see it makes me happy.

Ep 1. I hated that flash slapstick version so i am enjoying this one alot more. I actually enjoyed this episode and hope to see what comes next. i also find it sad that the posters and manga they show i can name 90% of them.

I wouldn't say Aliens so much as Deities who encompass the Cosmos more or less. Lovecraft can be confusing and a lot is left to interpretation. I just want to see an Azathoth, or Father Dagon and Mother Hydra like characters.

I'm quite surprised by how much I enjoyed this, it had me giggling the whole way through. Nyaruko managed to stray on the side of endearing rather than annoying though that could change as the series goes on...

+ blatent Pokemon references FTW!
