I'm going to inquire, more or less against my morals, but I feel as if I should ask. I've watched the original Fate/Stay Night, and I know this is the story from the first war of the holy grail, this being the 2nd season of it. I've been avoiding it like the plague since the thought in my mind is "I already know what happens in the end, and a little of what happens in the first bit, why watch it?" The question I want to ask is this - Is the series a good enough one that it won't ruin my image of the original?

I think the scene (imagined as it was) between Irisviel and young Ilya is so much more heartbreaking when you know what happens in F/SN and its other routes. What makes Fate/Zero so great is that it taps into so many different areas, and this inability for the mother to protect the child in a world of hatred and death is so subtle but at the same time, left an impression on me. Fantastic writing there, Mr Script Guy. Kudos.

to be honest the personality of the main character in fate/stay night annoyed me. in fate/zero the animation is superior and the personalities of all the characters make the series a very non shounen-jump sort-of-thing which makes them so much more realistic and enjoyable to watch.
yea, overall I'm definitly putting my vote for fate/zero>fate/stay night, although they're both great |
