Think of it this way: Although he is a douchebag, he is relatively good at fighting. Black Lotus lost all her allies when she betrayed the other kings, and needs people to create a new legion. Haru, considering himself existing only for the purpose of helping Kuroyukihime with her goal, decided to spare him on the condition that he join the Black Legion Army (I forget it's actual name). Plus, this way Chiyu doesn't get caught in the middle of their fighting. It's a smart idea to not drag other people into a dispute when they don't need to be.

Eh, while I know the theoretical reasons, it's just such an overused cliche, one of the oldest. Sometimes I just wouldn't mind something going in a different direction, especially when the friend is really being an outright twat.

Agreed.
I've never been a fan of "Oh, you betrayed me, but I'm a real friend so I forgive you and stuff." Were it me, I'd have dropped him and spit on the corpse.
Also, the wing thing was spoiled for me because Amiami has the Silver Crow fimga preorder up and it shows it with wings and...well, something else. Speaking of which, the Black Lotus model looks pretty cool.
Anyways, very 'eh' episode. I didn't like the pity party half way through. OH GOD I SUCK SORRY I COULDN'T BE ABOVE WHAT I THINK I AM - WAIT IS THAT A HEARTBEAT YOURE STILL ALIVE LIKE I ALREADY KNEW I SUDDENLY HAVE POWERRRR! I think if it just stuck to the battle and had Porky have a "I CAN'T LOOOOOOOSE" attitude without his breakdown for when the wings appeared, I'd have found it more phenomenal.

As it sits, my least favorite episode.
Same. I hope for more character development the next episode, although I like fighting episodes this fighting was pretty bland and not very spectacular.
took Taku out for a change, but at no point did I think it would actually happen. There was no sign that it would pan out differently than one would expect.
It would be completely out of character for Haru to make such a move at this stage of the game. He's still getting accustomed to the things. He still lacks self confidence. He just simply wouldn't go all out and eliminate one of his few friends (yet).
what's to hate about his decisions? Personally, I think if it didn't happen then it wouldn't of shown him trying to create a legion of his own, which was an important part of the episode.
