For a moment I thought 'Rolax' meant to be an in-universe equivalent to rolex, until Mutta's reaction to it.

Episodes 28-30

I'll say this: The actual launch was nice. It hit just the right tone, and Mutta standing up there alone watching his brother go into space is the kind of big moment the show builds itself for.

What I thought of the 'Apo goes missing because obnoxious punk kids liberate him while their crazy crying dad can't get a photo of an astronaut etc.' can just be inferred at this point.

Truthfully, the latest episode for me have all felt somewhat sub-par compared to the sections about Mutta becoming an astronaut. Even for a slice of life it feels like this anime is losing it's impact-ful moments. Even the launch, which looks cool felt like it was being dragged at a little to much for whatever purpose. Do not get me wrong, I haven't disliked this episode, however I feel like the last 4 or 5 episodes simply haven't been up-to-par with most episodes before them.

Episodes 31-5
The positives first: The most recent episode was the best in a while.

Makabe Kenji has always been one of the show's most likeable characters, and the near total asbence of it's rather poor attempts at humour to instead zero in on Kenji's backstory and finally give him the climax of getting the job at last actually worked. Whie the show's languid pacing often works against itelf, the look back at who Kenji was actually operated well in this episode... and it looks like Itou Serika is getting her own episode next week.

The bad:

Even when Hibitio is on the moon the series finds space to kill time with the most inane stuff imaginable. Nanba Mutta wins some crap at the supermarket! This could get a bit grating usually but that the series can feel like it's spinning its wheels now that it actually has an astronaut in space is just... what.

Anyway. We'll see if the series can pull off a final landing. Or not.

Episode 37

What joyous occasion. Let it be known that on a Sunday morning of Dec. 16 (In my case) that Nanba Mutta is officially an astronaut. It was real emotional that all his hard work, dedication, and luck all payed off and is now living his dream.
On a side note, I appreciate that they were able to stray off the padding to announce whether or not he's been selected or not. For a moment there, I thought this episode would leave off on a cliffhanger for the next episode to tell us.

Episodes 36-7

So yeah. Serika got in, in an episode that highlighted her background again. And Mutta finally gets in. As I'd always expected but hey, that's been what the journey of this show has been about.

Throwing in Mizoguchi's failure was a good way to add extra material that didn't feel like padding (though neither episode was that abrupt.) Mutta's sudden stiffness was well conveyed, anyway, but... eh...

This episode was amazing! It looks like they'll begin with the actual space stuff now. :'D

See future astronauts. This is why you don't take your eyes off the moon road. Or else you'll fall to your impending doom. At least they were prepared for it.
