Glad, I'm not the only one. But I'm going to watch the second episode to see, if it is as bad as the first one.

What's more the story is built up on rather illogical reasoning so far.

Why did he save her? And why the leader is fighting army for protecting complete stranger? This is just unreasonable and pathetic excuse for a battle.

Apparently you have not seen anything by Leiji Matsumoto. There is nothing wrong with the art style. It's VERY 70s. If you have seen 240+ anime, and haven't watched a Leiji Matsumoto anime, then you need to start educating yourself.

He saved her because she was being chased. They didn't fight an army. They ran away. Maybe you should actually watch episode before commenting on it.

Seriously? Can this even be argued? It's a matter of different tastes only. Somebody likes huge Key's eyes, somebody likes crappy 70's design. Somebody doesn't.

Merely stating the fact, I (personally) find it aesthetically displeasing. I know few Leiji Matsumoto's anime.

Ok, true - that is just quibbling. This doesn't change fact they resisted and made themselves a powerful enemy IMHO for no reason. (Maybe it will be explained later. That is also why I still give it chance by not dropping it yet.)

First episode was decent if nothing special. With the only holy shit moment

being the sand worm wale popping up. The damn thing looked just like a Dune sandworm. The vehicles and setting are also very Dune-ish but the plot doesn't have the same feeling at all. The event of the first episode felt pretty generic but hopefully they will flesh things out as they go and we will see the characters' motivations come out.

Still it was okay for a first episode and I really see nothing so bad about the character designs. They are really 70s but that's kind of refreshing. I would think if people were complaining it would be about the animation which is pretty cheep looking at times. I'm also hoping for a bit more out of the sound track. I thought parts of the OST sounded like something you'd hear in a video game.

Well let's see where they take this with episode 2.

This show is hilarious, but I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. The ridiculous character designs combined with the plot that makes so little sense you have wonder if it's a parody. If this series tries to take itself seriously if will fail hard, but could be awesome if it maintains this fast-paced, wtf plot. The sheer absurdity reminds me of Thermae Romoa, and it could be just as good as that one (although I know I'm in the minority in liking it).
