^I have a feeling it is because they had to condense the alternate story due to movie length, making it hard to digest. I have no problem with a new adaption to a show, but if your going to change it so completely sometimes you should do a new series, and not a movie OR just dont change it as much. Characters changed enough personality-wise that many could have just been replaced. Tone was changed from the counterculture vibe, (along with music) If adaptions of movies come along, and they decide to redo it but keep the general storyline (something like Macross) it was not hard for the average Macross fan to understand. But when a show such as an Escaflowne decided to change things so much that you have a lot less of the original show to draw It had the same outcome. Probably a reason it is given such a lower score than it's companion show on both Anime Planet and MAL. So It might not just be because of the alternate story. That said, I enjoyed seeing it, I went to a screening of it as a Fathom event at a nice large theater with a lot of anime fans. But I do think it fell short. As for the new series I am looking forward to it. ;) |

I enjoyed the Eureka movie. I quite enjoyed that first episode as well! But my memory is also a little hazy of the tv series and the time frame. This has probably been asked before but is Ao

Regardless, it's looking good. The lead character doesn't seem like the wimpy little shit they usually are when given a character at that age, and thankfully his voice totally reflects that. Also, man, that girl was not wearing a whole lotta clothing there was she o.O |

>1 ep
>Avg 4.5 >Rank #18 God damn, talk about jumping the gun on those ratings. It was a nicely made episode, but I've never been a big fan of the E7 series, so I'm expecting to be let down somewhere in the future.

![]() Never mind, watching the first episode now... Odd... Do you think those are trapars the hovercars are riding? I hope they explain how the trapars were discovered this time 'round. Last edited by Don9aldo; 04-13-2012 at 07:11 AM. |

That's absolutely normal. Stufff like this happens all the time. If you notice now, it went down to #109. People who have really strong feelings about something usually want to express those feeling right away, so at first you get an inaccurate rating. After a while you will get the opinions of a diverse group.

Hmm... I suppose that makes sense - god I have to catch up on the original series now to find out exactly what the Scub is to have that sort of power.
Thoughts on the first episode: Loved it! Animation was pretty damn smooth what with the G-monster and Scub blasts (Keep thinking of them as Seven Swells...). They appear to have kept up the quality on the soundtrack as well - that music when the G-monster reappears was great! Hopefully they'll start kicking out the techno beats when Ao gets to whizzing about! Liked the ED song too, which is odd. The only EDs I normally like are the more depressing ones (See E7 - Canvas). |
