I know caps lock turns the usual circle brush cursor into a cross hair, but other then that zooming in helps a lot.

But yeah! Keep pen pressure on :). It's a great thing once you get used to it. You can make such cool lines, and it lets you not have to change the brush size if you need a thinner/thicker line all of a sudden!

Also use the brush tool. I've never seen any occasion where the pencil tool was useful. The pen tool is interesting. It can be handy sometimes, but I think it's more of people who don't have a tablet and want a cool looking line that looks as if it was drawn with a pen.

Try getting a pencil brush for photoshop as well.
I find it quite handy to have a realistic pencil brush for sketches, plus it's easier on the eyes than the ordinary pencil tool - almost like using an actual pencil!

I don't think there's a shortcut. You have to enable the crosshair cursor in preferences.

Caps lock is the hot key for it.
I don't use it at all though, mostly because I prefer to know exactly what area my brush is going to effect (As well as what brush I'm using in the first place).

Anyone know how to DISABLE the crosshair thing? Would be great to get rid of that useless thing :)

Oh that looks pretty good!

What's your workflow like? Layers and such? Do you keep things on different layers at all?

Soooo...I gave that pencil brush tool a try in PS. Pretty sweet.

But then I remembered why I hate PS...its so clunky and bogged down, some of my lines would lag. I loaded up SAI - hit the Ink Pen brush, dropped the density of the brush down to 37% like the brush in PS was set to. And voila. Basically the same effect in SAI...100x smoother (even on a Q6600 oc'd to 3Ghz and 8 Gb of RAM...PS still lags? BAH).

Laid down the concept for my next image.

But now I've got the desire to do sort of a standing straight forward pose/base and hammer out various clothing styles so I can find something a bit normal for Cassie n DJ to wear. I'm getting tired of them not having something to call every day clothing. xD
