Default The Great Anime Showdown: Mecha Edition

To get things started this thread was originally an idea to be done by lagore but i guess after the enthusiasm i showed lagore suggested that i should go ahead and make a thread for the Mecha section. So i hope everyone has fun and enjoys this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intro

This thread will act as a single elimination battle tournament between the strongest Mecha and Pilot in all of anime, which will help settle once and for all who is the strongest anime character and kill some time. For this tournament, only highly skilled human pilots and Devastating mecha have been chosen where superpowers, magical abilities, cybernetic enhancements, biological enhancements, and grossly superhuman capabilities will not be allowed

The contestants were chosen as the strongest characters from their particular shows, movies, and franchises by the forum-goers, and in the rare event that there was no clear strongest character, the two strongest were chosen.

The rules for this will be simple and depending on which characters are selected they will be subject to possible changes.

Rules
  1. All mecha involved cannot use any sort of insane superpowers but this will be discussed for certain mecha. For example if its capable of magically blowing up planets, instantly teleporting enemies into another dimension or somewhere thats an instant death etc. This rule is a bit loose so its open for discussion when it comes to certain mechs
  2. Certain Weapons on different mecha may be restricted or rendered inoperable in earlier rounds as a handicap. If an example is needed lets say we have Mecha A's attack which is capable of being used once before the components for it are damaged and rendered useless for the rest of the tournament.

Contestants

Still waiting for more suggestions...

Bracket descriptions

Piloted Mecha Bracket-This bracket only allows mecha that is piloted by someone.
Non-Humanoid Bracket- Changed this from something else but basically this is allowed for mecha like Mobile Armors from Gundam series or any mecha that isnt in a humanoid shape
Misc. Bracket- This bracket will be opened after the first two are completed but if you have suggestions that dont fit into the other two then they will probably thrown into here. This bracket is being saved for last because it will more than likely contain a lot of wild cards.

Piloted Mecha Bracket
BRACKET WILL BE MADE ONCE ENOUGH ENTRIES ARE SUBMITTED

Non-Humanoid Bracket
BRACKET WILL BE MADE ONCE ENOUGH ENTRIES ARE SUBMITTED

Misc. Mecha Bracket
BRACKET WILL BE MADE ONCE ENOUGH ENTRIES ARE SUBMITTED

Are you looking for actual Mecha recomendations then? Like the machine's themselves?

And is this, the most skilled pilot? or Best machine?
Or will there be a category for both, then a combo?

I only say this because, there are some amazing pilots in some mecha series that pilot a machine that would most likely get them killed against a tougher better equiped machine with a unskilled pilot.

Hahahaha, goddammit! This looks waaaaaay more professional than my thread. Also, sorry for rushing you. You have plenty of time to polish up anything you need to.

Also: should you clarify between mechs designed for space use and ground use? I might suggest categories of just "piloted ground mechs" and "piloted space mechs." Also, your rules about special attacks are a little confusing.

Hehe, sorry... this is your contest. Obviously you can do whatever you want. Just giving some suggestions...

Okay, so here's some of my suggestions, since everyone else seems too busy to post here. This is your contest, so just tell me if any of these would not qualify:

- Amuro Ray (Gundam series) [either RX-78 Gundam / RX-93 Nu Gundam]

- Char Aznable (Gundam series) [either MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type / MSN-02 Zeong / Hyaku Shiki / MSN-04 Sazabi]

- Marlene Angel (Blue Gender) [Unknown Model]

- Christina Mackenzie (Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket) [RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex"]

- Norris Packard (Gundam 08th MS Team) [Gouf Custom]

- Sousuke Sagara (Full Metal Panic!) [ARX-7 Arbalest]

- Yōsuke Kirie (Bokurano) [Zearth]

- Noa Izumi (Patlabor) [AV-98 Ingram]

Possible Series:

- Gundam Wing (the strongest one)

- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (tachikoma)?

- Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (Nueu Ziel)?

I'll look up some more and get back to you.

I believe this is a pilot/machine combo.

thanks for the suggestions, ill check into each one tomorrow and ill go ahead and try and clarify things in the rules which i actually decreased the amount because they were too complicated

also lagore if you say it looks professional heres a banner you can use for the Human Edition lol
http://i42.tinypic.com/2wfl9nb.jpg

for deeper explanations of each class

Piloted Mecha=This involves any sort of Mecha that requires a pilot to be operating it in order for it to move little alone work. Any mech that is controlled by external input that has no pilot inside the mech doesnt fit into this category.
100% Robot=As the bracket's name implies only fully autonomous robots will be allowed into this bracket. This means if they are piloted or controlled by external input then they wont be allowed.
Misc. Robots= Pretty much anything goes in this bracket ranging from animalistic mechs like from the Zoids franchise up to the crazier stuff that im sure some of you will think of.

Thanks for the banner!

Um... what's an example of a 100% robot one? I can't think of any at all...

Also:

- G Gundam

- Gundam Seed

- Any other Gundams

- The Macross Universe (they transform, though...)

- Neon Genesis Evangelion (maybe?)

- Megazone 23 (maybe?)

- Gunbuster (maybe?)

- Eureka Seven (maybe?)

- Gasaraki

- Armored Trooper Votoms (Chirico Cuvie + ATM-09-ST Scopedog)

- Code Geass (Kallen Kouzuki + Type-02 Guren SEITEN Eight Elements Type) OR (Suzaku Kururugi + Lancelot Albion)

Hehe, you can see why I didn't do this one first. It's a pretty tough process picking the best pilot (or pilots) from each show, and then deciding whether they fit the rules.

Um... sorry to lay all this on you Mr. Gungrave. You can do all this stuff at whatever speed you want. There's no hurry at all!

hmm a 100% Robot example, theres not a lot for that category now that you mention it lol

but for a wild example i guess the robot from FLCL in his red combat mode is a decent example

isnt that the gundam that has some sort of laser cannon platform which fires one of the most powerful beams in any gundam franchise? because my only experience seeing that one was when i piloted it in a PS2 game where it wasnt the best mech when it came to fighting but it was agile. Although its probably not that great of a choice because I had a hard time beating the RX-78-2 with the Akastuki in that game lol. If anything Char in the last mech he pilots before his death being the Sazabi should be the mech he uses.

Pretty much if its from Gundam chances are ive piloted it in one of various PS2 games ive played and this also includes a lot of the Mobile Armors.

those were great games ^_^, even beat 3 RX-78-2s on hard using just a Zaku one with just a battle axe

Vandread.
It's about one piloted mecha kinda thing, that merges with ships to form even more awesome mechas.

ill have to read up on that because i recall reading the manga a LONG time ago or ive just never gotten to the point where what you said happens

although its not the only series to have that ship combining ability that is if you look at Gurren Lagann and its crazy scaled up mechs(which would be overpowered in this)

Ok ive changed the 100% bracket to being the Non-Humanoid bracket because theres not really enough robots to be used for that when i think about it.
