I make some gifs every now and then, a few landed as my signature, some weren't used, but I've got a few I guess are worth sharing:
[~1mb gifs warning] They are all transparent, with a #f5f5ff matte. I got psd's in bigger resolutions :) Last edited by thepgo; 06-26-2012 at 12:59 PM. |

Do you just render it out frame by frame in photoshop or the like the put it back together?
Because I've got so many that I want to do that too :) Also what programs do you use? Mostly for the GIF side :) |

ok, since I had so many requests before, I promise to do tutorial in near future :)
as for your questions: Maria Holic actually took me only a few hours. I rendered 18 mariyas with pen tool, then I realized I could use wand to clear half of the body in one click, so I've done remaining five with combined wand an pen tool. Thanks to the late discovery, I cleared the ladders quickly, mostly with wand, sometimes using quick mask to fix here and there. Yes, I render all the frames separately. Mostly pen tool(thanks to q3 past, I can do it pretty fast) I always, after grabbing all the frames to jpgs, check every frame to find the loop point, and recurrent or very similar frames. In Mariya's case I saved effort thanks to that, because while animation is ~40 frames long, it consists of only 23 unique frames, some of them used 2-3 times and put in a certain order. That saved nearly half of the frames to render. While making avatars, I usually trash half of the frames or so at that stage, because size limit is pretty low, so I've got to balance on the edge of fluency. Only tools I use are media player classic homecinema(a.k.a mpc-hc) for frame grabbing, and photoshop for all the rest. I'll make a tut soon. Last edited by thepgo; 05-27-2011 at 12:37 AM. |
