It's still around, it's just not connected to it on the site. I'm not sure if it will be reimplemented but you can still connect to it through IRC.

The channel is on the Rizon server through the channel #anime-planet

Crap...I usually only get on the chat when I'm at work, and here at work Irc doesn't work, stupid network admins have the ports blocked. :D

You can try searchirc's java chat: Search IRC, search term: anime-planet (click on the #anime-planet link for the rizon server)
..or mibbit Mibbit.com Webchat (choose the rizon server/network & channel #anime-planet)
