i have this problem and i'm not quite sure how much is it a design problem or just browser problem..
i use: 1. firefox 9.0.1 (newest not beta FF) / google chrome (also newest) 2. windows xp sp3 when i try to change an anime's status from i.e. watching to watched or change the star rate or change the number of episodes watched nothing happens. the little color box doesn't change it color (and the status doesn't update), stars do not appear. the problem began when i switched to firefox 9.0.1 (from old ff 4) so i think here is the problem, but also i see there is a new screenshot button instead of old one. so maybe you guys changed something in the code that it messes with new firefox? btw the screenshots button also doesn't work for me:) when i use google chrome everything works fine. i have a bunch of plugins in my firefox but i also tried turning them off completly and restarting the firefox, so i tried with clear firefox without any plugins. but the problem still remains so i doubt the plugins are the reason. anyone had similiar problem on firefox 9? is there something i can do? or sth u can do or should i just write to firefox support to fix their god damn browser:)? |

I haven't used FF 9, but my older version of FF works fine, even with the new screenshots button.
However, the site was revamped a bit a little while ago (when the recs system was changed). Part of that change is that the site now uses the tiny_mce script for the status/ratings deal instead of merely for text input fields. Up until that point I had kept the tiny_mce script blocked because it's just a buggy pile of crap (and the textareas worked fine without it, they just didn't have the pretty little buttons for bold & such). After that redo, I ran into the same problem you're describing. After poking around a bit, I dsicovered that unblocking tiny_mce cleared things up. With that in mind, I suspect your problem is that the tiny_MCE script is somehow being blocked. Perhaps by adblock, perhaps by noscript, perhaps by some security settings in FF.

Just checked my XP install, has Firefox 9.0.1 and seems to be working fine. You mentioned you tried without plugins so doubt its one of them blocking something.
Try Ctrl F5 to hard refresh the page and clear out the cached version. If not check Tools > Options > Content (Tab) > Is Javascript enabled? Could also try clearing all your history, cookies, cache, site preferences from Tools > Clear Recent History > Select Everything from dropdown. Last ditched attempt would be to uninstall Firefox and reinstall. Or just use Chrome as it's quicker anyway :)

i have the new firefox and same OS and it works - the new code was solely for the screenshots button, but shouldnt have affected your browser. you could try hard refreshing the page in case you have a cached javascript file, perhaps?

as i said i tried with no plugins and stuff, i started the firefox in debug mode (almost all stuff is off then) and the problem still existed. also tried clearing cache, cookies and stuff.
BUT... exactly 10 minutes ago everything started to work:) i was just going to write that nothing works and problem is unsolved. but now everything is working... have no bloody idea what is going on:) either way.. WARU WARUI my fault and sorry for troubling everyone:) eventhou still thanks for quick response, if the problem returns i will continue the thread and start some more throughly investigation of FF. should i change the topic to [SOLVED/FIXED] or sth? or wait for the mod to close it? |
