so here the deal i want a medium range rifle but have no idea which one and ...there can be only one.....i currently have a smle .303 and like it but it is ungainly for urban / home defense....and .303 is a somewhat unpopular round so more modern loadings are not available,,,,,,i had thought about a .30 cal carbine as my wife my have to use it at some point....but it is not the most prepossessing round ever loaded...so the ar platform presents itself ....but i would rather have a non military looking weapon if possible....not making this easy eh...i had thought of the new mini 14 by ruger...as an alternative to the ar platform....i do not reload and don't need thousands of rounds so price per round is not so important....as i won't be doing a lot of shooting...say 500 to 1000 total basic load....so with all the what rifle should i be looking for.....???

well money isn't a problem...if i move to fla that is a class 3 state and i might go to a sbr.....i just want a light weight rifle that is good in an urban setting ....i have been gravitating towards a lever gun ...perhaps a 44 mag/spl marlin...with a 8 moa reflex on it....idk ...the wifeu need to be able to use it.... and i have been sort of down on military looking stuff...i figure a lever gun in 44 will kill anything that walks in the lower 48 .....and it has the retro look that is less militia looking....

yeah, i was about to say outside of a semi auto a lever action would be a good idea..but id still go with an Ar.. cause you can get 30 rounds > 7/8 rounds you can stick a fine ass flashlight on the Ar to see who the fuck youre about to send to their god... plus any number of optics..
im not a fan of mini 14's or ruger in general... >.> the mini 14 always felt loose to me and the feel of the pistols just doesnt work for me.. but for light weight you really cant beat an Ar "patrolman" carbine or the ol' m1 ima just say remington tac 4 cause im a fan of them...even though youre not looking for a shotgun.. alright, well ill look around the net tomorrow to see if i can find somthing thats not an ar with in your guidelines.. ...tommy gun... |

yeah well money might be a prob tommy guns are selling pretty high like 10 grand i was looking in the 2-3 grand range...i has considered a m1 carbine cause the wifeu could handle it and with modern ammo it is good in the 100 and less yard range...weight and recoil are the biggest consideration after effectiveness...not really worried about mag capacity due to the history of fire fights in urban settings 10 rnds of 44 from a lever gun would be sufficient...but still a good ar can be very light and effective....idk i have been working on this for a while if it was just me an ar would be it ...or a similar weapon ....but with the wifeu i complicates things....

so far i havent found anything in 10mm...
the lightest/carbine-ish lever action rifle from one of the henry, marlin, or win that i found Model 92 Trapper, -- Winchester Repeating Arms -- Product Model ^ that seems to be your best bet for a lever action, im sure you can have a gunshop have a recoil pad put on and cut the stock down if need be henry rifles Mare's leg @ 5.7 lbs..-short stock.. so probably not good for the lady marlins stuff comes in at 6.5+ pounds |

yeah it is looking more and more like an ar ...probably like a ruger in 5.56 or 6.8 ...i still have a thing fo that cal....might possibly get an ar lower and put a 5.7 upper o i as a sbr...for the wifeu ...very light and no recoil...i don't reload and will have a deal of cash to work with...this will all go down when we sell out to move to fla...so will have the monies from the houses we sell ...
