Maybe it started with you sitting on the floor as a kid pushing around Hot Wheels, maybe it started when you saw that hot little red sports car, maybe it started when you got your first rush of adrenaline from speed. In the end it doesn't matter, all you know is that you love cars, trucks, bikes, and/or everything else that has wheels and goes vroom.
We need a place for talking about the latest car that caught our eye, the exhaust that we heard pass by us going the other way and just general, good ole' bench racing. From the 0-60 on the latest go fast cars to our favorite cars of all time. This is a place for car guys and gals, a place for car nuts, a place for gearheads. So, speak up and and let it be known that you're a Gearhead. Last edited by Jamie; 07-19-2010 at 09:12 PM. |

It's been so long since I've done any gearhead stuff; I'm not much for doing car maintenance myself in a parking lot. People already found it strange that I would work on cars before and it'd be even worse in a parking lot.
One of these days I'm going to get enough money to buy me an Argento Silver 2000/2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello. As well as a Black 2004 Chevrolet Corvette C5 Z06 and a Cherry Red 1963 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Sting Ray. |

OK, so, this will not be required watching, but you know you probably want to, Top Gear. I personally rely on www.finalgear.com for all my Top Gear updates and info. And if you have already been watching this season, what's been cool so far?
I fucking loved the race between the Veyron and McLaren F1. Also that Lambo was amazing. So glad I pump the sound through the surround. On other fronts, have any thing you want to show off? your current, past and hopefully future pride and joys? That new mod you just finished or the one you look forward to doing? I finally put on the black headlight on my Monte yesterday. I've had them sitting around for years. So, pics: Before: After: And finally, have you been to any cool local shows, races and/or events? If so, please tell the rest of us you took your camera with you and have purdy pictures for us. |

Not that I know anything about cars, or understand what they're talking about, but I love the show and maybe I'll learn something along the way. I like the races and stuff and love the challenges. Good show. |

Think I talked my Dad into buying an used Mitsubishi Evolution 8 for himself. He got a little bit of money after his Dad died.
So I have been keeping a lookout for good deals. |

*Raises her hand*
After a 1979 Mini City, I progressed onto a Vauxhall (Opel) Tigra and then my love affair with rice cars started. Moving down to the sunny south, I decided to get a droptop, and picked up a white MX5 import. One of my favourite cars, it was spunky and fun. My first (and only) experience with a rear wheel drive car, it was lethal in the rain and snow. Very easy to get the back end out going round corners, but a fun little handful. I would definitely get one again and put more power into it (it was only a standard-ish 1.8 litre). I had to sell it as I joined a car share at work, and needed more than 2 seats. Next came my first Impreza. A 2 litre UK spec turbo, it was very quick and very fun. AWD became my weapon of choice, especially in bad weather as it grips the road so well. Even cornering can be taken at stupidly high speeds without any worries (unless the tyres were turning to slicks...). After finding out my friend was selling his Impreza, I decided it was time for an upgrade. So now I have an Impreza STi V. Another 2 litre turbo, this one is just under 300bhp. At the moment, 0-60 in about 5 seconds - however, I could get the prodrive kit and put it up to 320bhp..... shame I have too many bills at the moment :( The other car I have access to is a MK1 Lotus Elise: Another fun car to drive, more like a go-kart, but I prefer to play the girly part and be a passenger in it. Just not in a short skirt >.> As to Top Gear, its weekly viewing in this household. There is a channel here called Dave that seems to be nothing but Top Gear reruns. Means I can watch the Vietnam and US specials to my hearts content :) H.

In the furture Im planning to do a full restoration of a 1970 Mustang Fastback from the ground up. I have the bare bones chassis sitting up a my grandfathers house right now. I know I will be able to handle mostly everything that it involves. Though I have no idea how long something like this would take. Has anyone done something of the sort? Any major hangups you encountered while in the restoration process?
