Three Plus Month Club (or The A-P 200)

- pretty much same idea but without all the senseless rules and requirements to join/participate. Consider this thread as the beta test for Anime of the Week. ;p


The dedicated anime viewers!
For those that have had 3 or more months life spent on anime as per the A-P statistics system, or have 200+ anime titles viewed. Or for those that would like to join in more in depth discussions and ratings on anime. Requirements are just a guideline not set in stone.
In other words, read the whole post before thinking you aren't able to join!

Purpose:
For in depth discussions on anime titles we poll/vote on to view within a given time frame depending on the length of the title. Discussions are a little more detailed than "I did/didn't like it" and will include at least a rating of Overall 1-10 but can also include: Overall, Story/Plot, Character/Char Development, Sounds/Music, and Artwork/Design.

Further, any possible recommendations should be posted and made on the A-P system as well.

Rules:
Titles will be submitted to me via Private Messages and I will then select 5 titles at random to be put up on a poll to vote on during the time frame that we are currently watching the last title voted upon.

Titles that you have already seen you have the option to not watch and still join discussion but are encouraged to review to refresh your memory and create a more accurate and detailed discussion.

When discussion starts, which is when the time frame given and everyone should have completed watching, voting ends and the next viewing cycle begins.

Once a new poll is needed I will take the 2nd place holder from the last poll and carry them over to the new poll and then draw the needed number of new titles from the pool of titles already submitted to me via the PM's. New submissions for polling are always welcome at any time.

Official members have to have a minimum of the 3 months life spent on anime or the minimum 200 titles viewed. Those without are not bared from joining but have to at least watch the first 3 selected titles at the point of joining. Once you have participated in the 3 discussions you are an "official" member and can then abstain from titles you do not wish to watch/discuss.

If any of this makes no sense it's because I can sometimes be horrible at explaining things, just ask. Suggestions or help is always appreciated. I can also be found on irc.rizon.net #ap200 for anyone that's paying attention.

Time Frames by Episode Count: (tentatively set and subject to change)
1-13 Episodes = 1 week
14-26 Episodes = 1-2 weeks
30-40 Episodes = 2-3 weeks
40+ Episodes = Subject to dismissal or a group agreed time frame.

I think this is a great idea, and I'm interested in following what goes on, but I can't help but feel it would have a lot more potential if it was the three months or the two months club, since there only very few four month plus regular posters I can think of. I understand it's supposed to be elitist, but that also results in lack of activity...

And sorry, I'll refrain from posting in this thread again.

I guess this does seem elitist... not what I was going for. It's just those that have the most viewed anime tend to be the ones that can take the time to sit through a season or two worth of anime in a week or two.

I think you're right though I do need to lower the standards a bit.

danielmer as a mod could you change topic to Three Plus Month Club (or The A-P 200) That should open up the "official" members a bit.

Also, I'm not above people interested in joining if they're willing to agreeing to watch and discuss every title we select until such a time as official membership is given... maybe?

Sorry, I didn't mean elitist in a negative way. In-depth discussion from experienced anime fans, with the anime changing periodically just sounds great.

it's ok, you were right tbh... that was kind of elitist of me I just didn't really think of it that way until you said something. Really I want anyone interested, willing, and able to do the bare minimum to join. that includes you.

I can't promise a very intellegent, or objective view on a series, but I'll do my best... I like most anime series, but I'm not a huge fan of mech. I'm in denial about romance (I love it really), but my heart belongs to horror/suspense type shows ^^
