Well, there's been a bit of confusion of late over the gender of some of us girls thanks to the fact that a lot of guys have pictures of female anime characters as their avatar making gender indistinguishable at this point.

So,

Seeing as there's already at least 3 completely absurd, unnecessary and somewhat offensive society based threads I thought
-Why not start another one where we can make our gender known?

i laughed so hard out loud at that poeple from the other room told me to STFU... well its simple really why so many guys have girls in their avatar.... I don't wana c a guy there... i don't consider an avatar an example of the person.... its merely a accessory for the forum... like the sig.... i really only pay attention to the names...

though if see yaoi or shoujo art in sig/ava i'd be pretty confident its a chick... (until the recent incident i'd have to stop that too)

more girls the better imo... we need some online equality... I've gotten a few girls hooked to anime... but the fact of the matter is... not many go out and start downloading on their own... many come to download from reading mangas...

And it would be great to get more girls into anime but many are too busy talking about salad for 5hrs, and when they're not talking about salad it's the fact that they're so fat (sigh). Not much room there for anime. I'm kidding btw.
I don't know why that is to be honest, nor would I begin to understand why not. I think a lot of anime is really geared towards girls and the merchandising industry mostly appeals to girls anyway.

I personally think we should get them young and start putting anime shows specifically for girls on in the mornings alongside my little pony and care-bears or whatever.

but am curious what is it about anime that makes girls want to watch more?

Hmmm, not all anime is just about big breasts or naked women. There are some with plots too, sometimes without the use of big breasts or crotch shots! I particularly enjoy horror, psychological thriller, thought provoking and action themed anime - and there's been a few really intriguing ones over the years such as those in my Top 5. I also love the exploration of different animation styles used in anime such as photoshop techniques in Gankutsuou, brush painting in Kai Doh Maru or the use of colour in Dead Leaves. Besides only anime can be creative, consistent and dynamic due to the nature of how it's made, minimising the constraints of camera shot series'.

When there is a lot of nudity, unrealistic breast sizes etc etc in an anime i'm no longer phased and I look past it... or enjoy it! However, anything borderline paedophilic and I'll turn it off and start something new.

whaa?... well i am the EXACT opposite of you... i hate horrior/thriller/action squences/mecha.... i just watch romance/tragedies/ecchi comedies..

I dont like different art styles.... i especially dislike shoujo art style... where the men are overly skinny with broad shoulders.... other men look like women and women look anorexic with baboon lips.

if the nudity and breast shots move the plot along then its ok but blatant fan service piss me off... Try watching Mouse you'll know what I mean.

I'm a big fan of the awkward situations... like when they trip his a "hands happen to land her chest" ... ;)

I basically like any time of romance animes..
