Okay, so with a jolt of inspiration from the 'Tattoo Palace' thread, I did some searching on a similar topic: PIERCINGS! You know; 'shrapnel', 'youthful folly' or 'ow, did that hurt?', and I found nothing quite like this! (Aside from a poll and a general tattoo/piercing thread way back in 2008...)
So! In the club spirit: Here be the House of the Pierced. Don't be shy amongst your brethren; how many? Where? Why? How? Amusing/painful stories or lessons learned? I'm sure there are plenty! Pictures welcome (no 18+ ones though, obviously). I have 20 such additions at this time, which are as follows: - 8 standard lobes - 1 tragus surface - 1 industrial/scaffold - 1 conch - 1 forward helix - 1 rook - 1 navel - 1 tongue - 1 nostril (fourth time lucky!) - 1 central labret - 1 standard helix - 2 dermal anchors, 1 below my temple on either side Retired: - 3 previous nostril piercings - 2 standard nipple bars - put up with them for over a year, but they just refused to totally settle :( - 1 standard helix - twin to the surviving one that was never going to make it, given that it was done with a stupidly thick safety pin in a friend's garage after I 'numbed' my ear with a cold can of bourbon... Oh, to be 16 again... Anyway, are you pierced? Do you wish to be? Were you at some point? Why? Why not? Any questions? Share away! ![]() ![]()

Well done, r-18! Hahaha
Kat, OLD? Hells no, especially at the springy age of 28! That'll mean I've only got 6 more years with my bits before I have to pack it all in :P Sounds like you've got 'project ears' too. Mine started there because back in high school, I could always hide piercings I wasn't supposed to have with my hair, and it kinda went on from there... (Will post a pic, but Photobucket seems to be misbehaving right now) I think that as long as you really want a body mod, it's your right to make that decision. McBearz, yeah, pain really is relative to the person. I've heard of people screaming in agony where others have barely flinched. In order, the top 5 most painful I had were: 1. Conch (ow, man, just ow... so much cartilage) 2. Navel 3. Nose 4. (second) Nipple 5. Industrial/Scaffold - very fiddly, matching up two separate holes at the same time |

Introducing:
Lefty: And righty: All lefty needs is a snug, and my ears will be a finished project :D (A snug is a ring/bar through the curve of the cartilage ridge above the lobes) |

Plus not a whole lot of jobs that don't frown on facial piercings, so that would suck. And I guess being with kids all the time, I don't need anything hanging off my face for them to be grabbing onto. |

I get what you mean, and that's perfectly understandable, especially on the kids front. But I still reckon, in my infinite childless wisdom, you should consider getting something if you've always wanted to - perhaps a small, chic little nostril stud? You can get 'piggytail' jewellery with a flat front so it's both discreet and 'grab proof'... ;)
Okay, okay, I'll stop clumsily cajoling you now, promise :P The point about employment is also a salient one, I know that many employers, especially in corporate/hospitality environments can be downright brutal when it comes to personal appearance and their 'professional standard'. While I don't think anyone should be fronting up to a job interview/work sporting a hundred piercings with garish jewellery, there are ways to make your mods look more 'sophisticated' with smaller, plain jewellery, symmetrical placement, retainers and making sure your personal grooming and dress are always sharp. It's always worked for me, but I guess my field (editing/writing/publishing) might be a little less prohibitive than say a major accounting firm or similar... |

I have 14 standard on my earlobes and one industrial. And I'm considering a tongue or a lip piercing.
