What about gender ambiguity? I happened to notice a character I know having been posted (extremely rare), and the person appears to be one gender, but used to be a different gender (the switch is a minor spoiler).
I would assume that the answer (especially if a spoiler is involved) is to leave it blank, but how to let you know that it is intentionally blank & not merely blank due to a lack of knowledge? ...and a bit more to the point in this particular case, how should we respond to such a character that's been posted (especially if it's a spoiler-ish thing)?

imo definitely submit it without the gender, and post hte reason. unfortunately sometimes spoiler info has to go in the reason in this case, but hopefully only people who have seen the series will read the thread.
you could also just remove the gender, then respond to the thread with the reason in a spoiler comment ^_^

I want to throw something out there for the sake of debate on character name types. I know the rule of thumb is to always use JP Name for the original name. It makes sense in 99% of cases. However, what about characters that were created and originally released in the US. It's sort of weird to call it a JP Name, don't you think? Like Neo's real name, Thomas Anderson, is listed as a JP name right now, even though the character and the name we both made in America.
Granted, I know it doesn't really show on the character's page, but I'm a little bit of a perfectionist in some areas and this just started nagging at me. ^^;; |

Quick question. I have decided to do some character pictures for Tower of Druaga. Kai presents an issue. She is exclusively in her adult form in the first season/half Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk but she spends almost all of her time in her child form in the second season/half Tower of Druaga: The Sword of Uruk with occasional shots of her adult form. In all most of her screen time is in the child form so do I go with a child shot or an adult shot?

About names, if the character's name is simply a English title, like "Chairman" or "Shop Keeper", and it's the only name known, should the name still be listed as JP name or USA name instead? I've seen both types and just pondering for consistency.

this was brought up in the mod forum recently - jp name should only be used if it's a first name/last name scenario. if it's a nickname (shop keep, etc) it should be nickname as primary.
the 'must be jp' thing is only for situations where it's a full name.

Just to clarify - I'm trying to put up characters for 'Peacemaker Kurogane', and found out in the process that it uses the same historical names as another series about the Shinsengumi. I would say the characters are pretty much completely different though. So, many of the URL tags for characters are already in use. Am I just to tack the name of the anime on to the end?
(Yeah, pretty sure there's been a post about this before. Just checking~) |
