You know, I'm actually kind of surprised that this is the first time someone's complained about that. There is some benefit to conserving space with the tags though - perhaps one tag per type (character section, genre section, etc) would make more sense? I don't want to put the panel ones side-by-side though, because I wouldn't know where to put the community runners-up exactly. 58 tags -> 8 tags seems like improvement enough. Working on a fix now...

With a list like this:

I watched about half of these. But really the field isn't that strong this year for best sci-fi.

Did you watch Shiki all the way through? If HOTD had less ecchi then it would've stood a better chance.

Yeah, it's much better now, thank you :)

And how about having the runners up text be;

Community's Runners-up:

or

Community Votes' Runners-up:

or

Community Award Runners-up:

or

Runners-up Community Votes:

or something like that?

I'm just wondering since it's nice to be able to compare the two choices right away instead of having to go back up to recheck what the community winner was when you're looking at the panel winners.

I agree that the field this year wasn't strong at all. However we have the Eve no Jikan Movie which was actually really good. In fact it won the Community Award, so as Cetonis said Heroman only won in the Panels because of the unusual circumstances.

Other than Kuragehime somehow not even taking a runner-up slot for comedy, I think it all turned out well.

frankly im not sure if we should have an award for panel based on 2 votes alone. imo we should remove that and not have a panel choice for that category.

Well, it's not that there were only two votes cast - there were five, of which two had Heroman at the top. Up to you if you want to put in some sort of minimum, but there would likely be splash damage for categories like sports, etc. that actually had some decent options but don't always get many voters.

It'd be better if panelists could just vote "none worthy" or something, but that's generally the kind of thing we'd want set up as an option ahead of time. It also comes with complications such as having had to have actually seen at least some piece of every show on the list, or else it wouldn't necessarily be fair to the Cobras out there.

Of course, you could just look at things case-by-case and decree that you want certain panel categories vacated at your own judgement. It's a little dictatorial, but so long as it's reserved for situations where few would really argue with it, that would likely work the best and easiest.

panel votes totally reflect my feelings very well

except for ecchi and sci-fi, and I suppose mecha (lawl gundam 00 actually won XD) sci-fi and mecha are better represented by the masses

movie is just bleh for both sides

of course OP and ED meh I'm always pretty different with those though

glad to see gintama get the comedy panel vote. seriously underrated show

Minimum vote count might be a good idea.

upon looking at this list, i realize my marriage seriously cut into my anime watching.=P I could not join a panel due to how little I saw of this years crop.
