10/11/09 - 5 anime ruined by a single character - Anime-Planet forum

I try not to do too many negative ones, (high flammability) but this seems interesting enough. This week we'll vote for 5 anime that are ruined by a single character.

Very simple; there are a number of shows out there that might make people think "wow, this would be pretty good, if only that one guy/girl had been killed off in the first 5 minutes." Characters that aren't merely irritating, but drag the entire series around them down into the depths. Which anime come to your mind that are an example of this?

There hasn't been any series I've actually dropped due to a single character but definatly a couple which for the whole time I've just been angry at them being alive!

Raki - Claymore
Kai - Blood+
Shiro Emiya - Fate/Stay Night

Basiclly it seems to be the weak cry babys that all they do is scream SABER!!!! SAYA!!!!! CLARE!!!!!

Zombie Loan - The main girl character.
Skull Man - The little girl
GANTZ - Whiney Filler character girl near the end of the series.

FSN was a lot worse than JUST Shirou . . .

This one's a lot harder cuz it usually takes more than one character to ruin a show, otherwise this would just be this (most have many other big problems as well).

at thinking up this list made me angry LOL cause i picked all the ones where i had hopes of the series being amazing but totally fell flat and crushed my hope

Maria Holic i totally agree with as well >.< I even think clannad "could" have been good if it wasn't for a certain main chick character >:(
