Default 5/25/08 - Top 5 candidates for a sequel

More than a little late, but this week let's vote for the 5 series we most want to see a sequel for.

Anime modeled after manga or novels seem like relatively obvious choices; however, there are certainly some original series that could make use of more time, plus plenty of manga-inspired series are actually tied up quite nicely. Which anime do you find to be the biggest sequel candidates?

Happy Voting ^_^

***Voting Closed***

This week's top 5:

Claymore
Berserk
Gantz
Elfen Lied
Seirei no Moribito

Thanks for voting!

Seirei No Moribito - The second installment to the Guardian series, in which Balsa goes back to Kanbal, seems to be the most interesting setup.

Boogiepop Phantom - It's an interesting concept and there's so much material to draw from.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - I prefer the original cast/story in Spirits Within to the direct sequel that Advent Children is. Spirits Within is overall, a well paced and self contained story that seems interesting on paper. I'm not a fan of the ending (it doesn't really follow its own internal logic), but I would love to see another Square/Hollywood collaboration under the Final Fantasy name, preferably with an entirely new setting.

IGPX - It's Shounen, but defies the stupid follow the manga setup that's typical of the genre. Each 13 ep season of IGPX has its own self contained story, kind of like a western TV drama. Even though the setup always involves beating everyone to win the championship, it stays interesting because of the athletic ups and downs the characters experience. IGPX is my favorite Shounen sports/fight series because it has the same, simple charm of ego-clashing competition without the way overused zero to hero, Karate Kid cliche's. A self contained 3rd season, even a 4th season would be awesome. I suppose they can't just keep winning, but the 3rd or 4th season might spinoff to follow another new team as the main characters, or perhaps advance to a later point where the 3 main characters wind up on separate teams.

- Ookiku Furikabutte (it was left sooooo unfinished!)
- Spice And Wolf (same as above.)
- Berserk (the manga that continues is so awesome!)
- Fruits Basket (even though the continuation basicly changes the genre and becomes slightly worse, it's still great.)
- Kare Kano (Best manga I've read, even beats Berserk. I'd really like to see it finish in anime.)

Honorable Mentions: Ouran High School Host Club, Narutaru, Moyashimon, Hatenkou Yuugi, Claymore, Gantz

Berserk (will be in this top 5 for sure :p)
Capeta
Hunter X Hunter (preferably different from the manga)
Hajime no Ippo
Claymore (not a huge fan, but a continuation could be rather nice)

Shakugan no Shana - the light novels make up for a kick-ass 3rd series
Spice and Wolf - I'll be distraught if it's never made...
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro Chan - as the second 'series' just died after a box of chocolate, and dokuro-chan is so damn awesomely good
Kaze no Stigma - as it just ended really badly and there's so much more there
Hatenkou Yuuji - And just for a fifth, I dunno why but i find myself really curious to know more as 10 episodes was really too short and it was a fun watch and they didnt do enough!

I'd like to mention Seirei no Moribito, as Kenikki said, [spoiler] Balsa going back to kanbal would be interesting. Well spoiler as it kinda gives away the ending as it means balsa obviously lives and the 3 of them dont live together at the end of the anime series[/spoierl] but i feel like they finished off that series well,
Ouran also i'd love to see a second series, but i guess the manga going for it is accessible and its only kinda starting to see the relevations we want to see... and then im not sure if that stuff is what we want to see with Ouran - Ouran was hilariously funny, making it more love-triangle based may spoil the fun.

Seikai no Senki
- Cuz there's even more
Juuni Kokki - See above
Kino no Tabi - See above
Kyuuketsuki Miyu - Need Ranka back, need Yui, screw Reiha
Higurashi - I may not like the anime, but they need to show Natsumi and ONE of these days acknowledge Fredericka Bernkastel
