Gunslinger Girl
Rosario + Vampire (the artwork was pretty much the only thing that was well done in this one) True Tears (Don't really know why, I just loved the colours and character designs) Appleseed (obviously) I'll edit this once I find a fifth one |

5cm per second - The characters look pretty bland, but everything else looks so 3 dimensional. The lighting is cool too.
Tokyo Godfathers - I always like how squishy some of Satoshi Kon's character's look. Most of the characters in Tokyo Godfathers have nice, rounded features. Plus, the facial expressions are awesome. Gunbuster 2 - It looks like a cross between FLCL and the original Gunbuster, but overall, it's prettier than both. Princess Mononoke Tekkon Kinkreet - Awesome looking slum. |

For this topic I'm really more inclined to vote for people than for individual anime. As it turns out, the most appealing visual styles come from the same handful of people time and time again. Everyone else pretty much just pumps out the same generic anime look. Ranked in order, the 5 most distinctive styles are by far:
Shinkai Makoto (5cm, Beyond the Clouds, Hoshi no Koe) Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle) Satoshi Kon (Paprika, Millennium Actress, Paranoia Agent, Tokyo Godfathers) Masaaki Yuasa (Kaiba, Mind Game, Kemonozume) Yoshitoshi ABe (Haibane Renmei, Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments Lain) Unfortunately, I can only pick 5 out of all that, so I'll go with what people have voted for so far. Not all of them are the best examples of each person's artistic style, but whatever. Hoshi no Koe Princess Mononoke Tokyo Godfathers Kemonozume Haibane Renmei Last edited by vivafruit; 05-14-2008 at 09:35 AM. |

Gankutsuou
Hajime no Ippo - well drawn fights Blue Submarine - very nice CG Princess Mononoke - just feels different Kare Kano - drawn differently I don't understand why i'm only the second one to mention Gankutsuou as art style is one of it's most important features lol |

Seirei No Moribito, so beautiful
Gankutsuou, innovative Karas, in your face Mushishi, one so lovely, but with this feeling of dread Texhnolyze, I call it "suicidal anime", never have I seen something evoke so much despair, hopelessness, etc and yet, fascination
