3. YuYu Hakusho - demonic Yusuke's spirit gun
4. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan - galactic giga drill breaker (or whatever)
5. Princess Mononoke - Ashitaka decapitates someone w/ an arrow - that's just badass

Boogiepop Phantom - All of the abilities add a little bit of metaphorical substance, creepiness, or are at the very least, interesting to learn about.

Mushishi

Read or Die - The powers themselves aren't that interesting, but it's kind of amusing how the characters use them. Giant paper airplane? But not only the heroines have cool powers. The villains all have powers that are at once fittingly insane and relevant to their historical significance.

Kamichu - Throughout the whole series, you slowly learn the extent of the abilities of the different deities. Some are seriously hilarious. Fighting cats...

Fullmetal Alchemist

I kind of wanted to put Paprika in there somewhere.

Boogiepop Phantom - Who could've known that one beam of light would do SO MUCH...
Loveless - Long shot, I know. But WORDS. Just words.
Read or Die - Yeah, I know... especially after the best weapon list, but without her power, she has no awesome weapon.
Shamanic Princess - Not much substance, but those powers were pretty cool.
FullMetal Alchemist

Gakuen Alice- like X-men, but with little kids
R.O.D.- not only because of the paper, but Nancy and the bad guys have some cool moves too.
Death Note- The Shinigami eyes are an amazing power
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya- Aliens, Time Travelers, and E.S.P.ers
Darker than Black- There are so many different kinds of powers, and the "contract" the user has to pay is really interesting.

Here is what I think about banning shows. I don't think it is such a great idea. This sounds like censorship to me. We are supposed to be able to truly express ourselves in these forums, and if someone wants to vote for Naruto, they should be able to. Plus, sometimes an anime is popular because it's just good.

*edit* I changed one of my votes. I didn't start watching Darker Than Black until after I had voted, but once I started it I thought it was a better choice.

No vote

I agree about banning shows. Let everyone vote how they want. If people want to keep popular shows from winning then just don't vote for them. It's that simple!

Also, I mean, if a show fits a category and fits it well, then by all means, let it go on the list! It's like we're showing anti-favoritism to a popular show, taking something away from it that it deserves just because people like it or it excels at things from other lists.

Darker Than Black
GetBackers
Rental Magica
sola

Ok, looks like a no-go on the ban list thing. Just thought I'd put it out there as it's been done in the past. In that case, I repeat my call for more suggestions ^_^ (Speaking of which, elric, that's a nice one you put up there. Probably happening next week.)

1. Basilisk
2. Ninja Scroll (movie)
3. Darker than Black
4. Claymore
5. Utawarerumono

Half tempted to put Noein up there but I don't think their special abilities differ greatly enough to really validate the choice.

Cetonis, I think it would be lovely to address the lesser known series' and I can empathise with your reasoning however I think you may run the risk of excluding those who have watched little or majoritively well known anime unnecessarily from voting. Also, how does one know which is wider known than the other? I can't be sure at times!
