3/30/08 - 5 most relaxing anime

I think this week we'll stray a little bit from the difficult ones, and vote for the top 5 most relaxing anime.

Fairly self-explanatory - which anime just made you feel this calmness sweep over you? What series could you watch without having your heartrate jump above 80? (not in the "it's boring" sense, though) This'll probably be a mix of slice-of-life and quieter comedies, but we'll see where it goes.

And once again, I'm asking for more suggestions, just make sure to check up on the major criteria before you post.

This is a hard one for me... I definitely have to go with the warm fuzzies on this one, since I don't really watch many slice-of-life and warm fuzzies are relaxing to me.

Utena - I've seen this series so much that it feels like a warm blanket when I throw it in and watch it. Knowing how everything goes, I just settle in for the ride and enjoy it. Feels darn nice.

Fruits Basket - Just so much fun. Doesn't require thought, you just watch and feel happy feelings.

Haibane Renmei - So calm. So, so calm.

OMG - Just a simple little supernatural romantic comedy without much drama, just antics. The TV series was TOO relaxing, though. @_@ Put me to sleep a couple times.

Slayers - Okay, this anime is one that I wish I could've grown up on. It's just fun and relaxing and again doesn't require anything on the part of the viewer. It may not be rofl hilarious, but early nineties anime just make me feel good.

[Deus ex Digital Boy]

Hidamari Sketch - It's my favorite cozy warm show.
Kamichu! - Family fun and good times.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou - OMG NOTHING IS HAPPENING
Sketchbook ~Full Color's~ - I am usually really bored but somehow really freaking loving it
Aria - see above.

NOTE: Ichimaro and Niea_7 would have made my list, but they were compelling enough that I marathoned both, and a relaxing show can never be marathoned. Exception for Kamichu, but I watched that twice so it's different.

[Xennon]

Aishiteruze Baby- A feel good anime, nothing HUGE goes on in this one. A very nice slice of life/coming of age.

Final Approach-Because it was so quick, I never really got to attached to the characters, it was good however, just the climax was weak. Good happy anime though.

Nodame Cantabile- Still watching this one, but it reminds me so much of AMG!, not because of a similar plot (which there isn't) but because the entire time I am watching this one, I just have a huge smile on my face. Every part is so good,
and the music is really soothing, that it really makes this one very enjoyable.

Ah! My Goddess TV- Pretty much had a huge smile on my face the entire time when watching this series. Very nice, and calm, while still not being boring or dull. Great series.

Cowboy Bebop- The first time watching this show, it does not fall into this category, but I have watched this so many times, that it is very sentimental to me now. I can watch this over and over again, know everything that is going to happen, and still be entertained. Watching this show makes me feel very relaxed.




Honorable Mentions

To Heart-this would definetly be up there if I were done with it. This is a very calm and relaxing slice of life.

Lamune- Same thing, still watching this one, but so far, it is very relaxing, although very enjoyable.
