3/16/08 - 5 anime with the best weaponry

Here's a different one, how about a vote on the 5 anime that have the best weapons?

Pretty straightforward here - there are plenty of series where characters fight using some sort of weaponry. Which ones did you feel had weapons that were particularly interesting, different, or just cool? As for mechs, while they might be considered weapons in the technical sense I'm gonna say let's leave them out since (1) machines that one pilots aren't exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you think of 'weaponry', and (2) if they were allowed this could very well just turn into a favorite mecha vote, which isn't really the goal here. So, my apologizes to any mecha fanatics, but let's keep this to the good old swords, guns, etc.

I would also like to repeat the request for anyone feeling creative to post some more suggestions in the suggestions thread, as many as there are a lot of them can't be used due to not being a vote for an anime as a whole. As such, the well feels a bit thinner than it looks. Not that there isn't technically enough left to go on for quite some time, it's just nice to have options ^_^

You hsould probably make a note about transforming heroes as well, like Guyver.

1. Read or Die - Three words: The Fucking PAPER. It's versatile, indestructable, makes for not only great action scenes but awesome craftiness. Oh, and all the villains have pretty epic weaponry as well. Nice all around.
2. Night Wizard - I only saw 2 eps but there was some badass weaponry. Cool swords, the main chara chick's weird power, and that fucking enormous rifle.
3. Trigun - Who doesn't love a good ol' Colt 45 Magnum? Plus Vash had the boot knife, the fake arm, and that crazy-ass angel explosion nuclear bomb attack thing.
4. Gun X Sword - Van's curvy sword REALLY needed more action but it was all around awesome as well as that one dudes sheth attached to an SMG or whatever the hell that thing was.
5. King of Bandits Jing - Jing's legendary armblade and of course the almighty KIR ROYALE!!!!!!!!

Honorable mentions to Black Lagoon and Gunslinger Girl who use real weapons. Henrietta is so cute with that battle rifle!!! . Also Akira with those laser guns.

#1 Gunslinger Girl. Dude who doesn't like a p90 but also has some of the best guns period and the use is realistic, i mean that the guns are realistic and the way they act is too it is one of the few shows that actually gives the p90 what it deserves it is a heck alot better then a m4 or m16. By the way henretta is using a p90.
#2 Ghost in the Shell. Dude every weapon in the show rocks and then there is the major oh my she is scary. also the tachomas i know you said no mechs but actually there more of robots with a great AI.
#3 Kenshin. I love swords and it has some of the best period. I do do sword play so yeah.
#4 Bleach. Who wouldn't want a zanpacto.
#5 Trigun. No not for vash but for the guy with the cross. Dude I want that thing. Talk about mobile firepower.

Noteable mention The Matrix, the scene where they gather up weapons to break into rescue morphis. Though if I had a choice of weapons I would have picked way better stuff then they were using. And I would have used more of the enemies weapons. And yes i know it isn't an anime but still. The only other show I would say rocks with weapons but sadly isn't anime is Stargate.

This is a more dubious topic than it seems at first. Transforming heroes like Karas shouldn't count as weaponry idd. Another thing that shouldn't are summons like Mai-HiME. Assuming they don't:

In Bleach, everytime someone "Ban Kai"s I get excited(the multitude of variations).
Kyo, all the Muramasa weapons, esp. Kyo's sword(and gaitling gun arm, typical anime weirdness. I keep thinking about rust).
Paper, yeah, I hate paper cuts.
Badass women with great swords.
Just something for every one weaponary.
