For this one we'll go back on the negative and vote for the five most cliche anime:
We've all seen them - jokes about eating lots of food, silent lolis, villains with long white hair, and dozens of other things that seem to pop up in every other anime you come across. Which series are the worst offenders, the ones that appear to be nothing more than a collage of these various cliches? Parodies (Nadesico, Ouran) are a different matter, but what shows just left you slapping your forehead repeatedly thinking "not this again... ?" Happy Voting ^_^ ***Voting Closed*** This week's top 5: Naruto Chobits Elfen Lied Love Hina Dragonaut Thanks for voting! Last edited by Cetonis; 03-10-2008 at 12:17 AM. |

1. Dragonaut - OMFGROFLMAO 2. MAR - a kid gets teleported to a fantasy world!!! 3. Mahou Sensei Negima - I don't need to say a god damned word. 4. Sisters of Wellber - Hey isn't this a Bee Train gals with guns show by... not Bee Train? 5. Shakugan no Shana - one of those shows where nothing EVER changes

Elfen Lied - I don't understand why so many people like this; even the violence got cliche after like the second fight
Gigantic Formula - a perfect carbon copy of NGE/Eureka Seven/Gundam Devil May Cry - watching every episode was like watching every cliche anime scene ever invented X The Movie - while a couple of ideas may be interesting, the delivery in its entirety is cliche, from the battles to the dialogue. I'd just like to ask ParaParaJMo to stop lying about Evangelion. Lol. Seriously, even if the protagonist really didn't have personality (which I totally disagree with), that just could not override the total non-cliche-ness of the show in its entirety. Actually, same goes for FLCL.

Inuyasha- classic "girl in a strange world with demons" I still love it though!
Love Hina- seriously, I couldn't even stomach the first episode. Pretear- basic formula for magical girl anime, nothing new Tactics- I'm still watching this, but it is basically the same as any other "monster of the week" anime Chobits I thought the whole "weird girl falls for some guy who finds her" was a bit clichè. |

Naruto - The funniest thing was during one stretch, I think in the Chuunin exams. Naruto always used this one dramatizing technique where whenever something mildly notable happened, it would rhythmically show every character's "OMG" face, one at a time. It's like a DUN DUN DUN type of thing. Sometimes they did that 5 or 6 times in an episode. It was annoying at the time, but I think it's kind of amusing now.
Inukami - Villains aside, I don't think there's a single character here that's not copy pasted from the basic harem formula. Chobits - buckets of loli and moe. Also not a fan of the "what is actually human" question. Full Moon wo Sagashite - well it was between this and Kaleido Star. I'm surprised there's been no shoujo stuff thus far. Shoujo's gotta be on par with shounen in how prevalent cliche's are. I don't have the heart to hate any of these though. Rozen Maiden Traumend - The first certainly deserves to be up here, but the 2nd season adds 2 additional characters. Eva might have gone with a couple of character cliche's (though granted, if you see it through to the end, there's more to them than that), but the FLCL vote I can't really understand. Nadeisco is a parody?! Oh man how much of this series did I miss... I think my list is arbitrary, since I could probably easily substitute most of them with something else. I wish I could stick in whole genres. Last edited by ace52387; 03-04-2008 at 11:53 AM. |

No Vote
Ace52387, probably best if you try to stick to the posting format. I know if I were Cetonis, I'd HATE to trawl through several posts like yours where the votes are embedded in the text, not even highlighted or bold so I could pick them out easily. In fact, if I were Cetonis, I'd probably ignore your post completely. Just go read over the rules, and then edit your post. It really isn't that hard.

Oh, and no vote for me since I could never ever narrow down to five all the harem and ugly rainbow colored robot shows out there. |
