Okay, first I'd like to just generally ask for anyone feeling creative to post some more suggestions in the suggestions thread; there's still a fair amount left, but it kind of feels like the well is getting low. Remember that it has to be something where you can vote for the anime (i.e. not 'favorite character') and it shouldn't exclude large numbers of people. (i.e. 'favorite gundam series' is more or less restricted to people who have watched most/all of them)
With that out of the way, this week we'll vote for the 5 anime with the most intriguing mysteries. A lot of anime (and not necessarily 'mystery anime' - see Noir, etc.) have plots centered around some kind of mystery the characters are trying to get to the bottom of. Which of these mysteries did you find the most interesting? When did you find yourself wondering what the answer was just as much as the characters did? Remember that this isn't a vote for 'best mystery anime,' as things like character development, animation etc. aren't really the point - just the questions at the center. So, please remember to use the format, and happy voting ^_^ ***Voting Closed*** This week's top 5: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Perfect Blue Noir Serial Experiments Lain Boogiepop Phantom Last edited by Cetonis; 03-03-2008 at 11:02 AM. |

Perfect Blue (ya rly.)
Boogiepop Phantom (The mystery is more the viewer's than any character's) Noir (And it certainly delivered, too.) Utena (Yeah, I seem to vote for this for everything. lol LOTS of mysteries, though.) No fifth vote yet. And I really don't think Death Note fits this list... Sure, there's a lot of thinking to be done, but that show is a chess match. It's a human chess match. Suspenseful? Yes. Mysterious? I don't know. Suspense is not a substitute for mystery. I think they're different animals altogether. |

Code Geass
Gantz Zettai Shonen Monster Rozen Maiden I had to think a bit more for this one, since I don't watch a lot of anime that belong to the mystery category. Of the ones I listed, I really wouldn't consider the mystery itself as the focus of the show, except for Zettai shonen, but nonetheless it still has an important part in all of these titles. |
