Naruto, NGE, Bebop, Trigun, DBZ

The latter three are all very good anime, and they are classics, but they're not quite worthy of being the pinnacles of worship that a lot of people make them out to be imo. Naruto and DBZ require no explanation :P

Full Moon wo Sagashite, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Elfen Lied, Gundam Seed

Well, I guess I'll respond. I honestly hate the term "overrated" - mostly because it is such a subjective term. But, here is my personal (and as objective as possible) opinion:

Full Moon wo Sagashite:

I watched this anime even though it looked like sort of your average "cutesy" anime, and even though it really wasn't in the end, I still found it to be a pretty mediocre series. To me, ten episodes of really good stuff and a couple of amazing Jpop pieces just aren't worth about forty episodes of crap.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien:

Yes, this really does remind me of a soap opera, but I actually found it to be a pretty good one. I just don't think it's good enough to be called the greatest drama/romance anime ever. The leads just didn't appeal to me, personally, and the middle was frankly lacking way too much in content at times.

Elfen Lied:

This is really an above average series, at best. It overdid it terribly with the blood and the gore, and the ending was honestly one of the worst I've seen.

Gundam Seed:

I admit, in an odd sort of way, I kind of enjoyed Gundam Seed, and part of me thought it was great, but the other part of me didn't really think it was that good at all. Looking at it objectively, I can see that the pacing was absolutely atrocious (rushed at the beginning and end and very slow in the middle) and the themes didn't come through as clearly as they should.

Dragon Ball Z

I'd say NGE too, as I do think its 'over rated' but I still thought it kicked ass. It isnt all that it is made out to be by a lot of people, but it didnt suck either. I dont personally think it belongs in the 'top' over rated series :)

Eva really isn't that great for how much people say it is. there are less messed up series that have the same theme as Eva and are better like RahXephon.

DBZ is cool because of the action but that's it. there's tons of other series out there that do action way better. the thing about DBZ that i hate is that it's the same thing over and over again. plus they drag out fights way to freaking long. i mean come on, when a planet has 5 minutes before it blows up it shouldn't take 20 episodes for it to actually blow up *sigh*.

(I'd also nominate Witch Hunter Robin, but at least it's ability to put me to sleep guarantees a good nap)

Note: I find it interesting as the thread gets longer that a lot of people list Cowboy Bebop, which IMHO is worlds better than Champloo...
