Do I dare invade our List of the Week thread with suggestions from Sothis?
She's posted a thread wanting to know what some of the best anime are for new fans from any genre. I suggest that we could help out with this by just going down the list... or maybe doing more than one a week to help it go faster. Same number of votes, same everything. (and you could also include suggestions from the other thread, assuming that there's no double posting. And I think this would work particularly well because I think if people see a list too long when they're getting started that they'd get a bit overwhelmed. Once they have a few suggestions, they can watch those and head over to the anirec to see what else they'd like. |

Well, if you saw my post in said thread, I really think that without some kind of guidelines, definition, etc. it's pretty much a wide open question and one could make a case for just about any given anime based on some reason or another. I wouldn't really want to impose my particular guidelines on voters either, so it'd probably wind up being just as much of a jumbled mess as sothis' thread is.

I really like that idea though, having a broad spread is good. There are so many genres of anime and different types, that a new anime watcher would be daunted.
Its interesting to see what sort of anime and which genre they come from people choose as a 'newbie' friendly anime... The only thing is that there's already a thread for it, and it could become a mess |

Hmmm....my votes would be for....
Top 5 epic-in-scope animes (think this was already mentioned) Top 5 characters you wouldn't mind being trapped on a deserted island with. Top 5 eccentric characters. Top 5 animes with the best ensemble cast. Top 5 animes with a fully realised world (eg., culture, language, history). Top 5 cutest anime characters (ones you would just love to take home and cuddle!) Top 5 most hard-to-follow animes that need a 8 year post-graduate course just to understand what it was all about. Top 5 animes that divide opinion (people either intensely hate, or defend with all their passion). Shouldn't include the more controversial genres in this. Top 5 animes with the least amount of filler episodes. Or ones with the most. Top 5 of the scariest spine-chilling animes. Ones that you wouldn't want to watch alone. Top 5 characters with the most weirdest proportioned bodies. Top 5 animes you would be embarassed being caught watching by other anime fans. Top 5 animes you would be embarassed being caught watching by your mother. Top 5 animes you wish would be turned into live action. Top 5 animes with a world/universe/society you wouldn't mind living in. Top 5 animes with the best animation. Umm...that's all I could think of. ![]() Cheers, Sandbar |

Most touching, or heart-wrenching Anime. Or you could go with Anime with the most touching or heart-wrenching scene. |
