Default FAQ and Voting Rules -- Please Read!

What is an AniRec List of the Week?

Each Sunday, you'll have the opportunity to vote for a random subject such as favorite vampire anime, most hated anime, etc. The following Sunday, votes will be tallied and the results will be posted at the AniRec home page.

You can also suggest or vote on weekly list ideas [here].

Because there are sometimes many, many anime which may fit in a certain category, a physical poll will not be used; instead, "votes" should be given in the form of a reply.

Voting Rules

In order for your votes to be counted in given poll, please follow the rules below:

1) Please only vote one time per poll.

2) Because it is time consuming to tally up votes in a thread, please use the following format to vote:

Your selection should always be listed by itself as the top line of your reply. Do not include it as part of a sentence, or in a format that is difficult to read. If you want to discuss or comment as part of your vote, feel free to do so. However, always skip two lines after your selection before you begin with your comments.

3) If you decide to change your vote, you must go back and edit your original response in the polling thread. Do not create an additional reply for this purpose.

4) Creating additional replies as you continue to discuss your selection is fine. However, please begin any secondary replies with this phrase: "No vote".

Please understand that your vote will not be counted, if you do not follow these rules. They are designed to allow for easy tabulation of the results.

Since, I noticed that two different people asked about limits:

You may vote for 5 different selections. Do not vote for more than that.

  • Regarding "five selection per person limit on voting" - i thought how to allocate points - and i came up with the following: 5 points for first entry in the vote list, 4 for the second, 3 for the third etc till 2 and 1 points -- but this would be regardless of how many votes in the list ie i think it would be bad if one user has only one vote and has 10 points, any objections or ideas how to handle points else?
  • ideally the nomination of xy is in the AnirecDB (so it can be linked to)
  • probably the rules need to refined, but some may like the version of a movie more than of a series. so the voter has to say exactly which one he means.

Rules Clarification:

1) I'm not allocating points. Each selection is one point a piece. This is majority wins. The selection with the most votes wins. I am not interest in, nor am I willing to worry about assigning point values based on whether a given selection is a person's absolute favorite or their second favorite.

2) I was certain that Sothis previously stated that any selection mentioned must be in the AniRec Database; however, I don't see that notation here in the rules thread. My suggestion is that selections not in the database should be labeled as such and then added to the official request list. That way they can be added eventually. Any selection that is someone's favorite something should probably be added as it will most likely be someone else's favorite as well.

3) I did request that selections be listed a the top of a reply in a format that is not difficult to read. I should have phrased that more clearly. I mean they should be in a format that is easy to identify. For example, movies, OVA's, and series should be identified as such when necessary.

yeah, they really have to be in the database for it to work, as i link anime ids. and yes, majority wins... 1 point per vote regardless of order.

Official Notice:

To avoid shorting people the ability to vote. I will tally votes Sunday mornings around 10:00AM EST in the future. Obviously there will be some variance, since I do have a life. However, this should give voters a reference point.

Am I the only one seeing the "annoying female leads" winners on the front page? What up with that?
