I visit Image Anime everytime im in NYC for a Chinatown toy run. They are less than 3 blocks from Manhattan Mall (33rd St) which is a very prominent subway/path train stop. Their store is tiny and kind of hard to miss, but the giant Zaku should point you in the right direction. They also go to all the local conventions so anyone at Otakon or Animenext should have seen these guys.
I've always been thoroughly satisfied with my purchases from Image Anime. Their prices are very fair and usually equal the same if i bought the item in japan and had it shipped over (more or less). Buying stuff pre-order will get you even a better deal and although i dont buy from the internet, i know lots of guys who buy their zoids and gundams from Image and I've not heard a bad comment about them yet. Although their selection is very wide, they really do specialize in toys like Gundams, Transformers, Zoids, Macross, Gashapons and Godzilla figures. Thats not to say they dont carry DVDs, CDs, Wallscrolls, Manga, etc. Just dont expect them to carry as big a manga selection as other vendors. I buy from these guys all the time, really swell customer service, friendly and knowledgable about what they sell. Hey, they are anime fans too. Overall one of my fave stores in manhattan and a must stop everytime. |
