i would have to say that yesasia is one of the best...

i buy alot of hkfilm dvds from there

i have purchased 31 dvds since february, and not a single problem with any of the dvds, all are legit dvds

their shipping is fairly prompt, just sometimes, it takes like 3 days more than usual cause they ship it from beijing > US > then to you...

there prices are awesome, i bought 10 brand new (came out 4q 2004 or 1q 2005) legit dvds in my last order, costed less than 100$

follow up

ok my last order from them, thats still being procesedd for 12 days is crap...

they tell me 1 item is out of stock, even though it sais its in stock!... and i waited 12 days! argh... i could have gotten in locally,

then ok whatever
so then i get another email today, they cancel another item, due to out of stock, and its in stock on the website...

whats worse is, they some how complete the transaction, taking full money.. when 2/5 items are cancelled!... i will follow as to if i get some money back

bad experience this time

UPDATE: (on above post)

hmm, well they gladly gave me all the money back for the items out of stock, and changed the shipping fees to match what i was actually getting...

so i am satisfied.. but choked... that they still list things on their site that sais "will ship within 7 days" when they dont have it/...

so basically, if it sais 2-3 days, you are good... but if you purchase something that sais 7 days... they dont have it in stock...

overall... i still love this place

Second choice after CDjapan, for me. If yesasia has cheaper shipping/price, or other items I want to order, I go with them.

Like smash I had an item (that I really wanted! :( ) that said in stock, which they finally told me they couldn't find about a two weeks later. Since I had asked for my items to be shipped all at once, the rest of my order was delayed until then... but much like CDjapan, it's to be expected that some items (especially rare ones) might not be in stock.

Shipping was fast once items were shipped off, and was okay price-wise.

Only thing else I can think of to mention, is that I heard you should stay away from "Overseas versions" with them. What's legal in Taiwan may not necessarily be legal in America.

If you're into imports from Japan, yesasia is a pretty good shop. They offer free worldwide shipping over 25USD. They offer coupons fairly regularly, like 5USD off for new customers. They have sales usually at least 2 times a year (Easter/Christmas), where you can save quite a bit. Items are up to 80% off, but at least in the christmas sale '07, many Japanese products were only a few cents/1 Dollar discounted (maybe 15-25 titles with worthwhile, i.e. 70-80% discounts). Unfortunately, their sales usually don't feature that many anime titles, and if they do, it's usually random single volumes. Their products also sell out, so if you see something you like it's better to order it as soon as possible.

Nonetheless, if you're willing to pay "regular" Japanese prices, it's still worthwhile due to the free shipping thing. What makes them unique is the fact that they'll pay all customs for you if you live in the UK or Germany. Which means for Germany that if your order is over 22€, you save 3,5% customs & 19% VAT (which usually get always collected when you order with amazon.co.jp or cdjapan). Payment is done in US$, and you can pay with credit card or Paypal (or you can send them a payment check to Hongkong, LOL). So it's possible to order if you're underage.

Shipping to Germany was very fast, it took approx. 10 days for my order to arrive. Shipments from the USA to Germany usually take longer! Shipments are made from HK over Belgium, so maybe there's a chance that it won't get picked up by customs if you order over 22€. My 2 orders were both below that threshold, but it saved me the trip to the customs office. They however DON'T include an invoice with the price you paid (it only lists the items), which means that if customs picks it up, you'll have to make the trip to customs office to show them your ordering confirmation, as they don't print the overall price on the outside, either.

Overall, a very good shop if you're interested in original Japanese products. I can't say much about their prices for Korean/Chinese DVDs, but at least for CHN DVDs there seem to be cheaper alternatives (but then, CHN DVDs are usually dirt cheap anyway).

Summary: I only really import J-Rock CDs and DVDs from YesAsia if CDJapan doesn't have them in stock. This store is my second choice when it comes to CDs and DVDs since they have a wide selection of stock and are very clear with their availability details.

Pros: Sometimes depending on the item you end up paying less than in other online stores. The fact that their item format is easy to read makes it even faster to get your item and checkout. It gives a wide range of payment options, with PayPal being my personal choice. Shipping costs are decent as they normally should be. Some items have free shipping which is marked on the item page. The length of shipping can be fast from moderate, depending on your shipping option. If an item is a pre-order it will be marked "time sensitive" on the package as to make sure you get it on time. Your item will be packaged professionally with a receipt of your purchase inside.

Cons: If pre-ordering a limited edition item and they run out of stock your account history page will mark as "out of stock, looking for other places where it can be available", which can make a person believe you won't be getting your item (at least I did). I e-mailed their customer support and they answered back in about 3 hours assuring me that it was the default message for the item page and I would still receive my item. Overall friendly staff and sport, so really there is no cons to this store.

There service and prices are good, but sometimes they take awhile to come. If you are in a rush go elsewhere, but if you want a reasonable deal and have a couple extra days to wait, then by all means they seem great. It's kind of like a secondary to Lik-Sang as far as what you can get... great store.

I like this vendor a lot. They have a nice selection of Japanese CDs, video games, and other related products. The pricing is pretty good, too. I usually buy J-rock and J-pop CDs from them, with an occasional import game purchase. I've never once had a problem with delays or overcharges. Definitely a place I would recommend to people looking to buy various import items.
