I hate Best Buy. The Geek Squad is completely inept. I have an epic horror story about them, but I won't go into it unless asked. For things other than technology Best Buy isn't bad, but well, aside from DVDs you really aren't left with much else then. :P

Tell the story!!!oneone111!!!one!!111!!
... P.S. I work at Best Buy. We have mostly mainstream stuff because we can't carry that much as the market for it isn't as big as other media - after a certain point we stop getting increased profit from carrying more anime in-store. If you like the stuff Best Buy sells then join the rewardzone (it's free); then you automatically get notifications of sales and discount coupons sent by email and cash back after you spend enough. We have new deals every week and most of them are really awesome; I've seen everything from package deals cutting hundreds of dollars on big ticket items to just big drops in prices on DVD box sets. However, if you're looking for cheap or harder to find anime immediately, stick to online shops, because they are the exception and not the rule at the store. You can go to Bestbuy.com and see if they have what you're looking for at your local store as well. Last edited by CrazyAce01; 08-08-2009 at 03:58 PM. |

I think Best Buy is average. Their prices are pretty fair. They aren't as cheap as Amazon.com but for the stuff I want, their normal prices are usually cheaper than the normal price at an anime/manga focused website.
Sometimes they have some great sales though. That's when I usually buy anime from them. |

Figure I'd put my 2c in the thread..
From the first two pages, I seem to have a mirror image of what you guys do. Our (yes, I work there.. as a Geeksquad agent :p).. selection in-store sucks badly. Although, most of our repair work goes by without a hitch, other than waiting for people to bring in recovery discs, or issues with the repair center (no comment). If you're computer is inside warranty period (whether manufacturer's or by a service plan), ask them to fix it in the store, as long as the Agents at your location is, how shall i say it, up to the task. A common misconception is that we're trained in computer repair or hold a degree in it, which is not true at all. I do have a degree... in multimedia :p But of course, I've been fixing computers for a little over 20 years now (hi2u Tandy 1000 computers \o/). Its a job. |

Will agree with Geek squad being pretty much incompetent. Well at least the ones here are none too bright and what they charge for the stuff they do isn't even justifiable |

In my experience, Best Buy is generally only useful when you need a set *now* (which is usually a rarity). They're generally very high priced compared to what you could get online, and in store their selection is generally limited to only the most mainstream of series (varies by location).
Unless your Best Buy happens to have a good in store selection, you're almost always better off ordering from other places like RACS or Amazon unless you need it right that instant. If your Best Buy does happen to have a decent selection, then sometimes their higher prices are canceled out by shipping costs you would get elsewhere, with the added bonus of getting it immediately. |

overall its a good source i thought prices where about avg. but one thing that bugged me is that I bought on clearance a copy of Pani Poni Dash for a birthday gift and it was sadly damaged and since it was a gift recipt they only got a in store credit for around 6 bucks... but i guess that's normal for any retail outlet... but over all its a good place to go.

I purchased my copy of Summer Wars (Bluray) and Disgaea (DVD) from Best Buy. Though I have yet to see any K-On! Blurays available at an actual store, they have it listed online for some reason.
All in all, if you want your anime now instead of waiting for shipping, it's worth the little extra money to buy stuff from Best Buy. I am quite fond of how their anime section is growing every few months, however, the lack of Bluray titles is quite a dissapointment at times. |
