Archonia.com is european store that has impressive language and currency options, and also the wide range of stock, including quite a lot of import from Japan and the US. Because of the location, EU customers don't have to worry about extra customs charges, but you do pay Belgian VAT of 6% on books and 21% on everything else.
The sheer volume of stock (they boast over 10,000 items) means the website is slightly cluttered, and as it lacks and advanced search [edit: no, has got an advanced search, it's just hidden] or filtering feature, finding what you actually want amoungst all the french manga can be confusing. Buying something as a new user is a little convoluted as well, I went through various steps entering all my details, only to find I couldn't pay by Switch, so I had to cancel the whole thing. This is of course metioned in the comprehensive faq - but how many people read that before hunting around and buying something on impulse? Finally, the default shipping is a bit expensive for small orders, and there is no order tracking or insurance on the cheapest option. Useful Info Payment Options: Visa, Mastercard, Bank Deposit (complicated and could be extra charges) Shipping Charges: Cheapest - Regular Mail (£2.19 for up to 350g, £3.75 for up to 1000g) Best - DPD (£12.48 flat rate up to 25000g, insurance, order tracking) Other: Good options for keeping track of orders, points system for free stuff |

Well, I just earlier this week had my first order delivered from Archonia.
To keep the post short, I had only positive experience from this store and I will be ordering more stuff from here as I get money. One major positive side is that this store allows you to pay with Bank / wire transfer / deposit. Which is great for those who don't have credit card, like me. The Bank deposit is really depending up on the bank you're using. I'm sure there are some banks that have it in some complicated way, but I found it easy and there was only 0.20e additional costs for making an out of country payment. Other good side is the huge amount of products they have and like mentioned before, the free points. Those will definitely get useful. One thing I heard and I'd like to notify the others too, you shouldn't place orders where one item can be sent within 24-48 hours after order with those that may take up to one, two or three weeks before shipping. It may result in that you will be paying double shipments. I personally haven't experienced this, but on another forum I've heard the experiences of others who had to pay the shipments twice. |
