Rightstuf is definitely one of my favorite places to shop for anime online. They carry a lot of items, including random merchandise, posters, dvds and manga. They have reasonable prices, and often have excellent deals going on a weekly and sometimes daily basis, and they have been reliable in my experience. I live in Ohio and they are based in Iowa and generally I get packages via UPS ground within 5 days of ordering it when the item is in stock.
If you tend to buy a lot of items, their "Got Anime?" membership isn't a bad deal, you pay a yearly fee for membership ($12 US) and get 10% off of your purchases, excluding a few items, usually those already discounted a lot. Of course they send you a little flyer with the newest releases every month or so, but it's not random junk, it's actually useful to see what is upcoming. Personally I order a lot of items from there, and the 10% really helps my wallet out a bit when I go a little crazy. Also they themselves release anime series on DVDs so it's kind of like a bonus to support a company who is bringing over series to the US, if you're into that sort of thing. |

If you're looking for a good deal rightstuf is the place to go. Their everyday prices aren't the best but it is hard to beat their sales. Typically they have a special running (which is often something like 40% off brand X of anime) and a great list of weekly specials. Every once in a while their sales are extremely good. Twice I've seen 25 dvd's of a brand (like adv) for $100. They also provide free shipping for orders over $50 in the US, there is a similar deal for Canada but the minimum order price is slightly higher.
If you put in a few orders to their site they will probably start sending you anime catalogs a few times a year for free. Which are a nice little gift. There's a few downfalls to using their site. Their site navigation isn't the best, and it's easy to get to pages that you have a hard time getting out of. Their checkout process is buggy when it comes to setting different shipping and billing addresses. Once you set a order, if you want to make a change to it, you're probably going to have to call them up. However, their customer service people are friendly and shouldn't take a long wait to get a hold of. Despite a less then perfect website, their prices are great and I've never ran into any service or product problems in probably more then a dozen orders that I've put into their site over the last few years. Highly recommended to cheeply purchase great anime. |

The only times I buy anime now is from RightStuf during their crazy clearance/specials.
I have spent well over THREE THOUSAND dollars there and have never ONCE had a problem out of all the orders I've placed with them. |

They are okay but I don't like the high free shipping price (49 USD). Usually if I order from TRSI I will end up preordering a lot of stuff just to get up to that 49 USD price.

RightStuf is the online online store I have ever purchased from - their sales are frequent and amazingly good, and they are trustworthy - problem free. The worst problem I have ever had from them is that one DVD's case (but case only) was slightly damaged when it arrived, but I'm sure that this was a problem in shipping, and not a fault of the website.
They also release anime, themselves, as previously stated, though it's not amazing quality (I have the first Gravitation DVD as released by them). The main problems are the wait (as I live far North from their location), but it's usually around the two week range (which is as mentioned), the high minimum price for free shipping to my area, as well as the sometimes limited selection - but their site is constantly growing. All in all it's a pretty good site, though I don't have much to compare it to. :P |

RightStuf is a good site.
As their prices are all over the board, there's a good chance you'll be able to find a good deal. When they have one of their sales going on, it's worth it to order from them, and if you buy a lot of anime, getting one of their memberships practically guarantees they'll be the cheapest site on the web. After you order, they'll even send you their catalogs, which are pretty to look at. And for the order...it gets there fast. You'll likely get the DVDs before the street date. However, for my most recent order, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya SE boxset v.1, the top of the box was crushed in and the sides of the boxes didn't exactly line up well. So, I couldn't say the handling is excellent. Still, they're the best site I've found on the web for ordering anime. |

Rightstuf has let me down, I tried to return both seasons of Magic Knight Rayearth after making me pay double for them and receive extras, call them once and they tell me they will call back, but no one does and I do that 2 more times with the same results. Finally the fourth time I call back I get to talk right away, they tell me sorry for the inconvenience and tell to ship them back for exchange. I do so the next day, a week later I get a package, I open it eagerly for something new just to find a letter saying I can't make this return because I am not the one that ordered it (Who else would've?) and that it is way past the return date (That is their fault). So I call them to get it straitened out, they tell me they can't for the same reasons in a very rude tone and tack on the reason that they where opened, strange that I was holding them at that very moment still sealed. Now I am very frustrated and angry that I won't be getting the fourth season of Inu Yasha now and that I wasted 70 dollars.

Hmm, I've not had that problem before. And I've used their 25 for 100 deal 3 times (talk about a setup for getting the wrong item). I do know they aren't the easiest to return stuff to though because once I ordered the same thing from them as I did from DD. I decided it was MUCH easier to return to DD than TRSI. DD gives you free postmarked return shipping (just print it) so I just returned theirs.
I'll tell you, if they say they're call you back, you don't wait (for any company). If it's been more than 24 hours or 1 minute longer than their estimated callback time (like, say 2 days), you call them and get on their ass. Otherwise, they'll just drag you out (like what happened to you). |
