Animenation is obviously one of the bigger online anime stores. Their selection is amazing. They even carry Japanese snacks.

Unfortunately I find that they have a tendency to do something I consider to be quite devious. I had this experience long ago when purchasing my Chobits manga volume 2. I went into their online store, browsed around and found it. According to Animenation, the availability was "Usually ships next day, unless backordered." I proceeded to order the item, figuring it would ship soon. I soon came to wonder why it had not shipped out yet. I received an email a few days later informing me that the item was on pre-order. It may not seem to be a big deal to some, but if you are selling an item that will be a preorder (ie it's not released yet) I think you should clearly note that on the page, not claim it is available unless backordered. This was a few years ago, but upon a quick glance I notice already a few items with that same availability listing that aren't to be released until a few weeks from now. I really dislike this aspect of their store. And to make matters worse, I did not receive my item until 2 weeks after the actual release date. Whether there was some problem getting it in from the company on time or what, I don't know, but it certainly did not serve to help their position.

In general, they do indeed carry a lot of things you would be hard-pressed to find all in the same store elsewhere. Their prices, in my opinion, seem to run a bit high in comparison to other online retailers though. Aside from the above incident (I didn't order from them again), I never had any real problems ordering things already released, and they shipped in a reasonable amount of time.
