My take on this idea:
It's probably best to start out with an online store, as opposed to a b&m store. That way you can advertise it in your city, and still have business from there. But you can also sell to people online, increasing your number of potential consumers without investing a substantial amount of additional money.

Well, you have more than Where I live... and the province I live in is where most of the Population is.. so, you have more people in your town which is in the prairies -_- and I live at the "International Bridge." So sad that we have "nothing" whatsoever here.

I reckon the best thing would be to have anime-related events at the store, like cosplay competitions or showcases of new anime. Something along those lines might be good so that your shop becomes kind of like a community hub for people who like anime, and hopefully it will become a place where people enjoy going to, and so spend money there rather than on a competing internet-only store. (Although i should add I am a student and no nothing about running a business...)
