Default Your Favorite Anime DVD Site?

Hello there!

What site do you all buy your anime off? I'm looking for sites that you know for a fact sell genuine copies.

I'm not really interested in sites like ebay and amazon, where sometimes it's a bit of a gamble. I've been burned before with bootlegs and I hate getting ripped off. I need them to be legit.

Also, I don't mind about region codes.

So far the only websites I can trust are play.com and otaku.co.uk but I would love to find others that are potentially cheaper.

I live in the UK so sites that are UK based would be great but I'll also take ones that ship international.

Many Thanks!

Roscoe!

I shop at:
Anime DVD Supply - Discount Japanese Anime DVDs & Anime Movies
Right Stuf | Anime, Manga and More @ Right Stuf

That's where I get most of my anime, I've shopped at other sites, but these are the two best. :D
Plus I live in the U.S so I don't know if those those sites work in the U.K., but it's a suggestion.

I hate to break it to you, but Anime DVD Supply is packed to the gills with bootlegs. If the DVDs are Region 0, or if the store is having a massive sale on box sets of shows that should be nigh-impossible to find for less $100 per half-season (such as that Sailor Moon set consisting of box sets that were never part of the legitimate releases), then they carry bootlegs.

Even though it's not a specific site for just anime, they do run anime specific sales from time to time which I usually make a killing during those sales.

DeepDiscount.com will occasionally have nice anime sales, like recently they had a Spring Cleaning anime sale, and during winter they had a huge anime sale as well, and Thanksgiving before that, etc.

Rightstuf of course would be the most obvious, but don't count out DeepDiscount.com anime sales.

But fyi, if you don't get in on some of their sales early, you might get order cancellations later on because their site and stock system isn't very good.

But I'd still recommend keeping a watch on them.

Amazon is great because I got prime, so I get the anime quick during the sales. ^__^

Thats cool. For me sometimes it depends if Rightstuf is throwing in an extra with the anime for example I could've bought Okami-san from Amazon but instead bought it from Rightstuf just so I can get the limited edition mousepad ^^

Yeah, generally I buy from certain places only if they have bonuses.

For example, I bought Katanagatari because they had the extra art cards included if you bought directly from NISA.

Bonuses are always nice. ^___^

i wouldn't write amazon of as selling fakes/bootlegs- Just assure the seller is Amazon themselves, they are a trusted company and sell legit copies (they probably woulda been sued and shut down if otherwise considering there marketing). I Also live in the UK, it can be hard to find good anime vendors here, i recommend using Amazon as your primary one, besides its about he best place for pricing (just as said keep it to amazon as the seller as there 100% legit officials), the only negative with amazon, is if it isnt in stock sometimes some dumb seller imports copies from the US and sells them at stupid prices (i seen some stuff at a few hundred quid but you could import it your self for next to nothing lol).
Anyways, assure you have a reigon free DVD/Bluray player, alot of DVD's of amazon UK are region 2 (which you want) but truth be told its fair to say at least 50% area is region 1 imports (amazon UK just aquire popular selling titles from amazon US). Anyways i think i said what i need to here xD So region free player, and amazon as a seller and you will be fine.
For Rightstuff, its a great company but it isn't UK based. They will however ship to you. I recently (2months ago) registered with rightstuff after seeing they have lots of limited editions or promotional goods and they are great, if you pre order a title unlike alot of ships, because your in another country they ship it about 2-3 weeks BEFORE its released... Now some shops ship prior to release but your talking like 2 days but rightstuff prioritize you as your not in the US or Canada so they try to get it to you for its release, they also are fast with shipping (ordering from amazon US takes about 3-4weeks to get here, sometimes there fast at 2 but 3-4 is most common, rightstuff pull it off within 7-12 days, i find normally around 9 or 10days- They are also cheaper to ship, amazon us want a fair amount but rightstuff only want the basics).

anyways there my most recommended, UK amazon for quick severice (and commonly a great deal, i brought all Eden of the east boxset, both movies and highschool of the dead for only 20pounds ^^).
Also you could check out Manga (UK) homes page(assure the page is right, there arn't no company with simular names... just ye know, manga as in comic can be confusing, There web assress is MANGA UK BLOG | UK's leading distributor of Japanese animation. - just checked the back of my K-on collection ^^). Anyways manga are good, and legit... the only problem is there kind expensive for some stuff, something which is going for 20quid from amazon or a simular price in the US, from manga will probberly cost 30. This isn't the case with everything just more commonly than not the newest releaes or the most popular.
Manga usually only sell in region 2 (which is great), however they dont have the largest selection, they got a few hundred titles so im not saying there strapped for choice... just they only sell the best selling US releases which normally means you have to wait a little after its releases.
So take K-on season 2, in the US it is releases mid june, over here from manga it might not be released till july maybe august. (This depends though, with k-on as fortunate luck has it, its actually normally released only days after the US title. Basically they way they work is, the uber popular titles which they know will do great like full metal alchemist will be released on par with the US releases, otherwise they might take a month or 2).
Eitherway i gone on to long ^^ Basically i recommened Manga uk for legit uk releases (just dont expect bargin prices, but they are worth checking out as not everything is expensive and they do some great sales. Most manga releases also have a special 'scan' barcode on the back which you use with smartphones to tell if its legit and also to give you some free access to hidden trailers)
Otherwise amazon uk is a great seller, there well priced and very fast for delivery and provided they come from amazon themselfs everything is 100% legit (though truth is i never seen a fake sold via seller as normally if amazon find out that seller is sued so yeah...). Amazon US will cost you a fair amount extra to ship it, but if you want a release early or its not sold in the UK its a good shop, again amazon themselfs... just be a little patient as they aint to quick).
Rightstuff are good for shipping (average priced and fast speed considering its coming from the US), they commonly sell interesting stuff like limited editions or come with freebies, also they have some good sales on time to time. Prices are simular to amazon, sometimes a little better but in all there a great shop. (when registering it might take a message or two, you have to confirm you live at your address if your outside america or canada. Dont worry its just a matter of scanning or taking a picture of a letter addressd to you with your address, simple as and they scrap it then after they seen the message so dont worry).

There the best in my opinion. Sorry i went on alot. Im glad to see others who want legit stuff in the UK aswell, i always know there's many out there but i feel weird being one of few who openly shout wanting better UK releases :D.
also sorry i have to put 'pounds' or whatever instead of using the symbol :) im currently using japanese keyboard settings, so instead SHIFT+3 being correct... i can't find the pound sign on here lol so sorry about that one xD
