Naruto
Synopsis, screenshots, recommendations ~ Add Recommendations Discuss the completed anime or post full reviews here. Post format and full rules can be found here. __________________________________________ Summary: Well basically it follows the story of a three man team of ninjas and their adventures. It basicaly starts from the beginning of their careers seeing as how the series starts with them not even out of the academy. Animation/Design: 9 Everything is pretty damn nice. Tree branches move, they dont just use repetitve animation during the fights, basically its good stuff. The design of the everyday objects(buildings, pencils, trees) is fairly typical, but the character designs themselves bring the characters to life pretty well. The goofy looking guys are goofy, the prissy looking girls are prissy, and the badass looking ninjas are badass. Story: 8 Naruto, out main character seems to have had the power of a 9 tailed fox demon sealed with in him while he was a baby without ever being told. Since this demon trashed his village and everyone else knows it, its pretty easy to understand why everyone treats him so oddly and how he turned out to be a total doofus, and of course he wants to becoem the highest ranking ninja of his village so everyone will recognize him. Basically Naruto and his team get assigned missions and they go out and do them. For the most part they get the job done, but since this is an action show about ninjas, some pretty screwed up stuff happens and i really dont wanna spoil it. After having done a few missions currently as of episode 33 they're in the middle of an exam to be promoted to the next rank. I really really dont want to give anything away as i personally find the show pretty interesting, but im sure you get the idea. Music: 7 I wouldnt want to dl the ost, however the music in this show is quite nice. The only real problem i see with it is that its starting to get a little repetitive at ep 33, but im sure as long as this series is supposed to be they'll gradually throw in some new tracks. It's basically a mix of synth and rock, however the 2 opening themes so far are pretty bad and fall into the "buttrock" category. Overall: 8 While the show is pretty good(and the slapstick comedy adds some nice releif every now and then) it does have a problem in the pacing department at times. Now while it isnt as bad as say... DBZ, quite often fights do tend to drag on over 3 or 4 episodes on a regular basis(sometimes more), but its still tolerable. |

I think naruto is pretty good... the beginning is hilarious... although the fights do drag on.. and theres a lot of flashbacks... over all its pretty good... id give it a 9/10

Quality
It is good but like stated it drags on. I download episodes 5 at a time now cause I couldn't stand the wait for the next episode. I kinda regret going ahead in the manga, cause I know it'll take forever to get to the cool parts. It gets sooooooo good later on. Dang, oh well. Oh yeah, Kakashi rules, very Spike Speigel'ish.

naruto is definitely a funny anime and manga : cool characters, bits of humour and a good ost

Naruto, each episode only 2/3 new material, 1/4 explanation
It only drags because they have a minimum of 1-3 minutes of the previous episode (in case you forgot what happened in the previous episode), 5-8 minutes of flashback (in case you forgot anything else pertinent from the previous episode) and 3-4 minutes of explaning things that just happened (in case you missed it the first time around). And they did the flashbacks in a way that made me feel ripped off. (overlay a funny "flashback" cell on top and then roll the original film, saves money I guess) If they only did flashback like Juuni Kokki does.... not just show the exact same scenes again, but add a little something to it other than "I thought.... I didn't realize, etc."
It is only by the strength of characters and plot that I still watch this thing. I guess it's the demographic that it targets, but DAMN there's really only 12-18 minutes of actual new material per episode. @_@ |
its not quite that bad, and it doesnt consistently stay with only 12 minutes of new material per episode. ep 48 is a good example of this, as well as being a good example of taking the time to make the animation for something that needed a lot of work to look good, be superb yet still retain all of the same style.
personally if it's just flashbacks to past material(not like the characters having some flashback with footage you havent seen before) like recaps, i just skip through it. the thing is, the manga is exactly the same with the flashbacks and recaps, and explanations of the same thing every 5 episodes, so it isnt as if they're doing all of this to try and save money or something. they're just doing their best to keep everything as exact to the manga as possible. anyone who's read enough of the manga and then seen the anime can attest to this. hell, at one point there was some group that subbed an episode(dont remember which one, it was thirty-something) by just using the manga translations. and while it was still pretty crappy overall, it was pretty accurate. and with some of the other series that have become chopped up, slimmed down, and whatever else compared to what the original manga was, you gotta give these guys some credit for the job they're doing. |
WOW VAGUE VAGUE summary, but okay, Naruto was great. Er, i mean IS great, only yeah they do tend to drag on some fights to long constantly with repetitive stuff. like 3rd VS. Orochimaru... [spoiler:8a6733d621]Hokage Dies Orochimaru loses his arms[/spoiler:8a6733d621]
