Ah, you see, details like that I'd never pick up on or even know to look for in the first place. Not that someone would necessarily go into that level of detail in the review, but if they can notice these things, then they are in a better position to judge the quality of the voice acting. Certainly better than I.

In the meantime, I'll just stick to music. Lol.

Noticing acting really isn't much, unless your brain is busy processing the emotional content of printed word X. Everybody should try watching an unknown episode without subtitles once (DVD and newer fansubs allow switching them off) if only to appreciate the sound and visuals. Maybe something from SHAFT. You'll probably even understand what's going on. It's just comics, after all :D

Your way would constantly lead to someone writing 'The Something did this' and 'The Something is this' and 'I am this' and 'I like this'. There would be little to no variation in sentence structure, flow, or anything. When using words like 'However' and phrases like 'Then again', what you're creating is a conjunction (I believe, more specifically, they are called conjunctive adverbs...? Check with therik/FalseDawn), not just a superfluous word/phrase. Often, these connect sentences/clauses meaningfully.

azanimefan: Dogs bite. I avoid dogs.

VivisQueen/Sheex: Dogs bite. Therefore, I avoid dogs.

Just like any writing tool, these can be used excessively. However, advising to remove them in all instances would just lead to 'staccato' writing where the sentences will often read disjointed and have a monotonous pace.
you're right, if you took my advice to mean "always" then it's not good advice. My advice was not meant to be an "always" type of advice, it was specific to that one paragraph, where Sheex started every sentence with conjunctive adverbs. It made for a bad read, especially when your writing a review, where you're asserting your opinion. For clarity and ease of reading, many of those were simply not needed.

does Sheex have to delete them? no Nor does he have to delete all of them. I just was pointing out every one of them could be safely deleted without changing the meaning and improving the ease of reading it.

When you read a conjunctive adverb, you're reading a continuation of a thought. You can write them at the start of a sentence or after a semicolon. with every sentence in that paragraph using one (apart from the first sentence), he was in essence creating a giant run-on sentence without actually writing a run on sentence. worse, it wasn't needed. The thoughts he wrote after each conjunctive adverb could stand on their own as complete and comprehensible sentences without them. In essence, they were extraneous.

@sothis/Viva: I get that the first paragraph doesn't directly relate to K-On; however, it's an opening paragraph that explains why the show appeal to me given the context in which I chose to watch it.

Thanks for your feedback, all.

Well, I've thought about it, and figured it seemed okay given that we have these descriptive paragraphs now. It pretty clearly outlines that I like series like this. :P

Yeah, agreeing with sothis. DEFINITELY remove or amend how the sentence begins. If anything it's an 'it' without antecedent.

if you expect them to have read them first, then no, it doesn't.

sometimes i've started reviews with something like 'i admit it, i hate ecchi. thus, as so and so has epic amounts of ecchi, it should come as no surprise that i'd be hesitant to watch it'

or maybe even 'for those of you who know me and read my reviews, you know that i despise ecchi. it should come as no surprise then that...'

but in both cases i set up why it's no surprise.

keep in mind that a huge amount of our traffic for reviews comes from people googling - AP reviews show up near the top of results cause we have such reputable reviews. none of those people are going to know your history of reviewing, and your descriptive paragraph, if that's the reason, is at the very bottom right of the page - no one will see that unless they 1) have already read it, which doesn't account for all the people who find our reviews through search or just havent read your reviews before on AP, or 2)they go all the way to the bottom first, read the end (and see your para), and then scroll back up to para 1.

a report on sankaku complex:

The release of the K-ON! Blu-ray edition has seen a new opening day sales record set, with the Blu-ray edition selling 33,000 copies, with a further 8,000 sales of the DVD edition, a total which makes it the best selling TV anime of all time, and one of the best selling anime titles ever.
