Labyrinth Of Flames - OVA - 2 parts


Story/Setting :
The story sets in japan (of course) , and the main character is Galan. He will die to be a real samurai, but the problem is that he is so clumsy and stupid. So that's just an impossible dream. Later on, he meets a russian girl, who gives him a special sword. Galan thinks of this as nothing special. But then he finds out what this means ; the sword is actually something you give to someone you're in love with and supposed to marry. Galan finds this a surprise, but he doesn't deny the marriage. But hey, when a pretty wealthy girl wants to marry you, would you refuse? :) There's only one problem, her dad won't apply the marriage. he has allready set out another guy whose sore job is to marry his daughter. This creates a conflict between Galan and the russian girl's father.

Suddenly, who gorgeous girls appear from nowhere and try to kill Galan. Galan has no idea whatsoever about where they come from, and why they want him dead. But he doesn't know this ; the sword he has got, is worth more money than you can count. This is what the two girls is after. Now Galan has to fight these to survive. All the battle skills he have, is those who he aquired when he was fooling around in his apartement. He doesn't even know how to use a sword. And his life is in danger. Ain't this fun? :)

I found this story really interesting, and it was very very funny. Although it's a bit centered on some sex, wich i find annoying sometimes, it's still worth to watch. Each part is 45 minutes, and those minutes pass by really quick. I laughed through the whole thing, and so i guess the rest will. You won't find any background stories of any of the characters whatsoever though, wich is also a bit of a lowdown, but it doesn't really matter. It's comedy for christs sake :)

Animation :
The animation is rather good. The detalis are very good, and it is very funny the way they have done it. As mentioned above, panty views are an exessive part of this OVA, wich i think that they could have spared, but wha the heck. It still looks good :)

Music :
The music in Labyrinth Of Flames is nothing special actually. Of course the songs used are funny in each their way, but the songs does not really mark themselves out here. They're just regular background music.

Overall : 8/10
I think this OVA was really worth it. I had fun watching it the first time, and i had fun watching it the 5 time :) There's no limit to how many times you can watch it. The story itself is really humoristic, and with those crazy animations it's "sugoi" ;) The only thing i can think of that I would like to point out, and i have mentioned it above, is the way they use panty views. It would have been ok if they used it five or six times, but we're speaking of 1 per minute almost :) This is of course a lowdown, but hey, it's still funny, i laughed, i thaught it was great, i vouch for this one. I think i'll put a 8 of 10 on this one.

1st: My episodes were only 30 mins long each ;)

2nd: The excessive pantyshots and clothes-teared-to-shreths-ikkitousen-style should e called ecchi (If you are able to. please change your thread title to a ecchi, comedy.)

Story:
I've seen the series myself too, and I must say: You kinda spoiled the whole story with your Setting/story :p NOt that it's much, since it's only a 2 30mins eps OVA. This also means the characters aren't that deep and intruiging like the chars in a 26 eps series. Nevertheless the characters are original and haven't seen many similar characters in other series.

I noticed there was some sort of parody-genre in the series too, since they make fun out of samurai series in a funny way.

Nevertheless I found it an original story and I'm happy I found this one (I was the dancing babe in one of my music vids, but couldn't figure out whbat anime it was. Thanks to you I found it :) )

Animation
One of the best looking chars I've ever seen in an anime :p



In addition to that, the animation is wel done and a feast for the eye. ie: It's an ecchi series, so there will be quite some pantyshots and mature jokes. While some may not like that, I do if it's done well.

It's a bright and colorful anime, even though the first few scenes would say so otherwise.

Music:
During the anime there was hardly no music, though the OP and ED songs are opera-songs, what is completely enexpected if you compare the anime and the music.

IMO it wasn't a really good idea to use such a music for such an anime, since it gives the series a whole different atmosphere.

Overall: 8.5/10
One of the funniest and most enjoyed 60 mins of the past few months. Would have loved a sequel or a longer series, since this is something they can build on.
