My initial thoughts was - this is going to be like Death Note, with worse animation and a vague plot.. little did I know, I'd actually like this series alot! I thought it was going to be like the normal Mystery, Detective anime (the main character basically thinking he is god because he out wits the normal person). This series is quite the opposite, no doubt.

Plot

Pro's

It was very interesting, actually. "Little Narumi" basically wanted to live up to his brother's legend and failed to do so, so he gave up any self-confidence whatsoever only to find himself following the path of his brother blindly. (I liked this about the anime, because having a big brother, I can in a way relate to Aymu Narumi quite a bit.

Con's

The Blade Children and Narumi's brother had a vague past, which was disappointing seeing that they are two of the biggest parts of the past/present of the series. It would have been ALOT better had it extended a few episodes to give a run-down on what The Blade Children was and how Narumi's brother comes into perspective.

Animation

The animation was quite good, actually. I was thinking a more 90's look, but it actually showed some modern animation (Im personally a big on quality). I liked the parts where Hiyono would hit Narumi and it showed the softness of the punches by putting a teddy-bear; it made it easily understandable that it was playful. I also liked the various angles they made the view from, which really can set the tones and moods of a particular scene (Like when Narumi would subject someone to a certain crime, there would be a low angle to show his apparent superiority over the person; believe it or not, I've seen a few episode of various anime that lacked on the angles really bad)

Characters

Where to start? I absolutely loved the characters and how they designed Narumi to actually have guilt that he doesn't amount to his brothers deductive reasoning skills, or anything for that matter - which is unlike some of the detective, mystery animes I've seen. Hiyono's character was the comic relief in many ways, she basically believes in the abilities of Narumi's skills more than himself and helps tension throughout the anime in various ways. I also loved Eyes Rutherford; he is one of the most complex characters I've seen so far. He's unlike all of the other Blade Children - he actually uses Logic and Deductive Reasoning, and is quite comparable to Narumi except that he literally feels almost no emotion towards anything but the survival of the Blade Children. Another complex character to me was Kanone Hilbert - he was Eye's tears and emotion. Except the catch was he has a dual personality - Friendly and jokingly and Manipulative and quite insane. The Character build in this series was definitely what made the series good. The others are very good, but not as complex as the three I mentions

Voice

6 / 10

The voice for the dubbed version lacks. I hated how even when Eyes and Kanone we're little kids, the voices were exactly the same as the present. It almost seemed unrealistic and misleading. Narumi's Voice was good, as well as Madoku (sp?), and Hiyono's. The voices is what made this anime lack a little bit, but it wasn't ALL that bad I suppose.

Overall Score

I also want to note that this anime actually showed some romance in it, and I thought that the relationship between Narumi and Hiyono was very good, and actually was a goose-bumper as some points in the anime, without the doubt.

I really enjoyed this anime, and I hope I gave an accurate review about it. This is my first one, so sorry if it stinks.
