Suzuka Vol #6 continues the teenage love story between Yamato and Sazuka. In this final set we see Yamato finally about to tell his true feelings to Sazuka, but is unable to due to a set back during a race in which he finishes in second place. Yamato decides to focus all his attention on becoming first in the next tournament and delays telling Suzuka how he really feels. Drama and tension between the two build up in this DVD set until the final episode.
![]() If you have never watched the Suzuka series before, you should not start with set #6. Watching the series starting with this set is like watching Star Wars starting with Return of the Jedi, It’s enjoyable, but you will miss a huge part of the back story. Suzuka is a teenage romance that focuses on two characters lives as they find love on and off the sports field. The story is deep and intertwining as it brings you from moments of pure joy when you think the two will be together to total heart break when bad timing rips them apart. ![]() One part of the Suzuka series that I have always enjoyed is how it sprinkles in just enough side stories to stay fresh, but does not overly burden the watcher with secondary characters that bog down the plot. One secondary character that gets great time in this set is Yasunobu, who confronts Yamota about his feelings for Suzuka. Yasunobu can not see why Yamoto bothers with Suzuka when she treats him so bad. Several side plots conclude in this set including other girls who are in love with Yamoto. In the end this set focuses on Suzuka and Yamato as the try to finally get together. ![]() One item that fans often debate in this series is if Suzuka is actually worthy of Yamoto’s affections. She has always given him the cold shoulder and has been very hard to deal with the entire series. In this set we see Suzuka open up more and able to talk about how the loss of Tsuda has caused her to be cold to Yamoto. Still with so many other girls in love with Yamoto it can be easily argued that Suzuka is not worth the time. ![]() Although the series might seem to be a typical teen romance, it is much deeper than this on many levels. The main female Suzuka might be cold and seem uncaring, but the final pay off makes the entire series worth watching. I would recommend this set and the entire series to any one who likes deep intertwining romances with a twist of the unknown. Score 8 out of 10
