Like I said in my review, I watched this simultaneously with the live action a couple of years after I've seen it when I was living in Japan. Personally, I just loved the live action a whole lot better, thus in no ways can I give it any higher score than I did. I like the casting of Stresseman in the live action because it used the intention of his character a lot more effectively where you aren't sure if you're to take him seriously up until a certain point, and I think the actor did a better job of being more funny and enthusiastic.
As for mixing 3D and 2D, I think Initial D and Wangan Midnight do a great job of this. I think 4th Stage of Initial D did a good job of the mix as well. Cowboy Bebop for a 1998 anime did a great of this I must say.

Maybe animation was the wrong word. I guess I meant the art itself. Basically I was just irked by the 3D components and the small eyes. (I like big eyes in my anime.) It was just something I felt you had to get used to. but it still doesnt hamper my COMPLETE enjoyment of this anime.

just so you know, this comment made basically no sense, and was not a rebuttal to vivi's points at all (which i mirror - 8 is "slightly above average"? how can anyone trust your review ratings if you only have a 3 point range?)

Well, I'd venture to say that small eyes is an art style thing more than being "bad" animation. They use the same kind of style in Honey & Clover (JC Staff's other majorly acclaimed title) with only one character (Hagu) having huge eyes to show her innocence/cuteness/etc. However, I do agree in a vague sense that the animation doesn't quite hold up to other JC Staff series (again, Honey & Clover) and they overuse the still-frame technicolour poses. I'm racking my brains to remember where on earth they used 3D in Nodame. Can anyone point out a memorable scene where they may used 3D? |

Oh I suppose. I guess they weren't so hideously done that they distracted from my attention to the anime because I don't particularly remember those parts all that well. |

My review of the drama -I think it had better use of the character development -Cast had great charisma -I think Stresseman's weird casting made great use of the intention of his character
