I really didn't find this anime anything special. Great animation and sound but neither the story or the characters captivated me as much as I was expecting, due the hype around this series I was expecting something different and really good apart from the technical parts.
Guess I'll try rewatching it someday, maybe in chronological order instead of airing order, to see if my opinion changes like it did with fumoffu. |

I wouldn't call Nagato the loli. I don't think many do, lol. Imouto is the loli, but Nagato is a high-schooler, and way too mature to be considered any loli focus. ;)

I just recently watched this. Another over-rated series in my opinion. The only thing that I got from watching this...
Is... I FINALLY know where MechaTama got his sig line.

I loved this series for its dry humour primarily, then its touches of beautiful animation , then its simple-yet-unique amalgamation of ideas and genres, its subtle and intricate characterisation of Kyon and Haruhi primarily, and lastly It was a surprising anime for me, and that's all I ask for in an anime now - that it surprise me. I agree with most of that review. Although I think those ratings are a little high. I'd personally give it an overall of 8.5/10. It lacks re-watchability, I think. I watched it in order of release, by the way.

The problem with "overrated" is that people are swayed and influenced too much by hype and ravings. When you watch a series, don't let other people's opinions of the series affect your anticipations. Just have normal anticipations. Everybody's tastes are different, so it's only natural that people will think this series is overrated simply because they pay too much attention to the level of hype and other people's ratings of a series.
This way, newcomers to any anime won't have their "Entertainment Receival Gauges" pre-set to level 10 out of 10 just because other people say it scores an entertainment gauge of 10. Then it's much more enjoyable. So, moral of the story? Rely on hype/ratings only to find out if a show is good or crappy, not to find out your own entertainmen t level for the series. |

I enjoyed the series, but really hate that it airs out of sequence (excepting the first episode). Currently in the process of ordering it the way "I" want to watch it.

Honestly, I'm surprised some of you don't like it.
Because it's a short series, the story is better maintained imo and the animation had a higher budget. I loved the character development, I think it was satisfactory and worked well with the story. Characters were interesting and funny, although the story line itself is confusing as hell (mostly due to the episodes not being in order). The music matched the tone of the series and the music at the end, when Suzumiya sang on the stage was amazing. I was thinking wtf, then she starts singing and blows my mind away. I admit the episodes can be rather complex, but the story itself is gripping and if you're a fan of supernatural anime series, you'd most likely like it. Besides being a super popular series, the story is well in tact, the characters move the story along nicely, the animation stays good all the way through, and above all else I believe this series fits the hype that it gets. |
