I think you are not getting the reason why I think Elfen lied is being made: Pure Enjoyment. The sadistic scenes in the series are entertainment to (surprisingly) alot of people. There is nowhere a rule that states that you'll have to watch through all the bloody scenes and can't skip past them if they do displease you.
