I mean she's insane but somehow they'll get her all better and she'll be really grateful to Gatts (yes I'm calling him gatts cause I refuse to call him "gutts") blah blah blah. I think even though Caska is a tragedy it's a way of making a reader like a character and then throwing realism into the mix. Life doesn't always work out the way one would like. Lots of authors like to take a character, get the readers to like them and then something bad happens to them (hughes in FMA for example). I think it adds a tragic aspect to the story myself (more so than losing the band of hawks as it's personal and ongoing).

I'd like to see Caska stay in her current state or perhaps grow as an individual into a new character type. I do find it perplexing that she can't understand Gatts being kind to her (cept the one part where he went a little berserk...) I mean she isn't totally nuts, she really just seems to be in a child like state, or suffering from amnesia.

Also, if she is going to stay "crazy" I think she should get less screen time, we get it by now.

Yeah, a lot of authors like to have tragic things happen to awesome characters BUT

what usually happens is that they die OR something tragic happens to them but they get over it by being awesome. They rarely - RARELY - have an important character turn out pathetic.

I don't want Caska to turn into a new character type - she was great and should only have gotten greater. Even more, I'd hate it if she stayed like this. I want just one strong, capable lady in this show who doesn't end up being totally wacked, please. (Anyone remember that general lady and her weird SnM thing? I mean, seriously?)

And yes, I refuse to call him Guts too. That's a sucky spelling.
