I'd like to use this thread to discuss good anime/manga deviations, in the vein of Berserk or Claymore. I don't generally branch out into a lot of genres, so beyond the select few I'm reading, I don't know of many long arcing stories that didn't get the full anime treatment. I have a hard time getting into manga that is directly sourced into the anime I've already seen, and vice versa. What are some other more popular shows that deviate from the source material quite a bit? This doesn't necessarily mean in length, but can also pertain to story (short manga, short anime, same characters but varying stories, etc.).
