Re: A bearded Norwegian makes his entrance
Umm ... I wonder if the "EEEEE!! BFFS 4EVER!!!" would be an adequate response to your answer there. But you are right about there being rather many black metal bands coming out of Norway. I wonder why the Italians, Finns and Swedes seems to have adopted power and symphonic metal, while norwegians are going for the satanic approach.
But your observations are absoloutly correct. In the other nordic countries they are singing about the heroes fighting the demons from the heroes point of view. Here in Norway they sing about the demons fighting the heroes from the demons point of view. But then again - it is always the bad guys that are most fun anyway.
I could say a lot more about some of the other metal bands - both within the black and trash metal genre, but I'll let it be for now. Come to think of it, I have turned 40 - I should be listening Mantovanis orchestra, not Gahl screaming out his love for Satan.
(small tip for those who are into more obscure metal bands - check out Green Carnation and ... ummm ... I completely forgot the name of that other band. Oh well.)
Oh, and thank you for the tip about Detroit Metal City. I'll make sure to check it out! I am still waiting for a Dragon Half meets Dethklok clone - that would have been great. But till then I'll check that OVA.
