Maybe it's just me then, but then again, you don't think Light already knowing about Ryuk meeting up with Shidoh a bit odd?
The anime skipped the part where a group before Light's (forgot who they were) group went to get Mello. Shidoh taking off their helmets and whatnot.
Light finding out about Near, if I'm not mistaken was cut pretty short as well as Mello and Near finding out about Light being Kira
